I guess the right question is did Spidey use brakes, if yes then even 340 would need brakes.

Is it because of Lockers?

Yes Samurai, Spidey surely used the brakes in this incline and previous one with tree which broke scorpio's rear side glass.

guys one question...though there was a snorkel on scorpio, how does one prevent water getting in via intercooler?

An Intercooler is very similar to radiator. In radiator there will be coolant going in and coming out, similarly in Intercooler there will be air going in and coming out. Water cannot get inside. If there is a chance which means there is a leakage. then the turbo will fail.

This is what welcomed us in to the trail .

It was narrow and as you can see the rocks were protruding dangerously and was challeging the drivers to take their vehicles without damaging. In some places there was no road at all as you can see below . Swastik vijay spotted for us and we get through these hazards without much problem. I was using a bit clutch here which was not required and Vijay mentioned it to me. Some more twists and turns and dips and we reach here.

The photos dont do justice to the dip here as always. The vehicles were half driven , half slid to the plain below and then we had an incline with loose mud. One by one all vehicles did this in their varying styles , Some of them zooming and jumping , some of them crawling and some of them sleep walked (sleep drove) through this.

Thats when people wanted to wash thier dirty tyres and underbody in the lake near by . Spidey took the onus of checking out the depth and the stickiness in the lake bed and ventured in to the waters. It slowly guided through the lake bed and found that there is deep slush in the far end , so turned to the left and came out. Then it was like children playing in water. One by one each of the vehicle tried to wade through the water. In between Rajesh tried to go through the same trail which spidey had went and got stuck in the slush. It may be because of the added weight of his 540 or because he went directly to the place where there is maximum slush. But stuck he was royally. I tried to tow him out with my 340 with my brand new tow rope but without any success. The only sucess I got was in drenching my tow rope is slush. The jeep didnt budge. Then they tried with the scorpio . It could move the 540 to an extent but couldnt pull it out. Then every one turned to the ultimate rescuer, Swastik Viji with the Winch. Even using a winch it was difficult because the terrain was slippery with water and grass and Vijays jeep was being pulled towards the slush . Then we found a position where we can anchor the Jeep and using the winch we pulled the 540 out. We had exhausted 45 minutes by then

In between the BILLI (Willies with Baleno Engine) and Godzilla (Scorpio with Mudzilla) tried going through the water and came through without any problems. I feel Godzilla tried to go in a little deeper in the lake and water went gushing in to the vehicle. When it was coming out of the water it was as beautiful as the film shots where the heroin is coming after a dip in sea ( a la halle berry in bond movie) . It was a sight to be seen with the water gushing out of all openings .

After the bath we moved to next place through a dip witha left turn , crossed a stream and then had the NIMBOOZ break .

Contd....

Water inside intercooler as explained is a slim chance, and if it has a leak it would show up much earlier with whistle's/trumpet blowing and turbo and later engine conking off

On this point i have a doubt, does the snorkel have any collection/drain point for rain water? Since its facing the wind?

Jaggu, the snorkel head has drain points on all four sides to remove the rain water. It is designed in such a way that the rain water will be guided to the drain points. I have been testing this from past few weeks driving in the rain. not even a single drop of water getting into the air filter.

Definitely one of the best OTRs for me.Although I did'nt have my Jeep, thanks to Dwarak for letting me drive his Gypsy. This was a oneway OTR as the reverse would have been impossible, specially the rock climb.

The first one to come down the rocks was Khan_Sultan,an experinced offroader. The second one was Rajacchu,a novice,I presume. He not only had his heart in the mouth but a pair of of something else too .After coming down,he said he was so scared that he had plans to hit a tree,if everything else failed !!!!!
