Sree, you can't bring an infant to the OTR. Don't even think about it.

Sree, Try to avoid the mum/baby on board... 4 mths too soon for both of them IMHO. Leave them @ the resort/homestay and you can take the 4yr old under your constant supervision. What say??

I never thought this terrain is so treacherous!!! I was not planning to take my family along for next day's OTR.

Hey Sree,
2 Options:
1) How about leaving much earlier than 9?
Reach the camp first and then head towards Chomakund?
2) We could also go there on Tuesday morning?
Just my thoughts.
Cheers,
Deepak

Choma Kunda is not on the way to anywhere but the sky. It is the top of a mountain. Obviously we can check-in into the resort/camp/hotel before going forward.

Sree No worries .

We will be taking diversion just before 6km from the camp at cheyandane for Chomakund. So we will be leaving your kids and Mrs.Sree at the camp and then we will be going to chomakund. It will hardly take 20mins extra for us. thats it. Is that OK?

Can somebody post some driving directions from the Madikeri-Virajpet road? Where to turn, how far to go, etc.

Sharath, Dont take virajpet road from madikeri. I guess you will come through Sampaji. take deviation to Napoklu just before reaching Madikeri. From Napoklu take kakabe road and reach kakabe. This route would be ideal for you. you need to take some help from locals to identify the route. JMA camp is located very close to kakabe.

Vijay, I too realised that I can skip Madikeri and head directly to Napoklu. But that road is not to be seen in any map. I just have to improvise on the way, just like how I took Bisle ghat last time.

Edit: This would be my route...

Sharath, till Napoklu you can see it on the map. after you reach Napoklu its just 10km to reach Kakabe. just continue the road when you reach kakabe and just after 0.5km from kakabe you will notice a bridge. near the bridge you need to take left for JMA camp. we will come from opp direction and take right turn to go to JMA camp. Hope now you have some idea where the camp is located and how to reach.

Your thread made me to go there. It was very slippery terrain.

Anyways 5pm is the worst case timing what we have planned. We will be there atleast 1hr before the planned time.
Young blood control your courage. Getting stuck is fun I know that but you guys have next day also OTR which is most important.
From Resort its about 45min drive to base camp of Chomakunda so calculate and go.

Guys enjoy the OTR and get stucked.... and take plenty of photographs.
