Harjeev, in short it was a mix of river bed, manmade obstacle (sand climbs), high speed highway, then hills, dunes, then a long soft road, then river bed again with bushes, ditches and zig zag drive.. overall nice combination and good fun for SUVs.

Detailed report by Sudev going on.

The rear guard convoy was yet to reach Raja but he did not know that and was panicking on being left alone. Any ways first we tried this:

(Thanks to Animesh who posted this on FaceBook event page)

When the manual help did not work the Prado was brough in to pull from rear. This also did not work as there was too much loose sand and Prado was in danger of getting stuck:

Finally the stuck GV was pulled from the front with pull and jerk technique. Though risky this was the only way possible:

By this time Govind was on radio (he was leading the convoy) asking us where the hell we were. Fog made visibility very low. After a quick re-assurance that we were indeed on way over to his location we arrived there to find a beached ......

The sand embankment was source of lots of fun for all the Trail Blazers but first the beached Tuscon was taken out by Siddharth using his beautiful and purpose built Jeep.

Even then it was not easy and was achieved only by slack and pull method - not the best but worked - and after one tow rope broke. With Tuscon safely out others got in to the act of trying to cross the sand bank which had three levels each higher than the other with highest being about fifteen feet. Just for comparison the Tuscon was struck at level one. Pictures of Govind's Gypsy, surrounded by crowd of females, at level two and the level three is on the right side in the picture:

Raju's Prado doing the same with elan:
Trail Blazing #3-20735_247065341804_520546804_3693329_6149103_n.jpg

It was getting past 1100hrs and if we were to reach other challenges then we were way behind the time schedule as by this time we had covered less than 10% length of river bed. So a confab was done on the ground

Since people were having way too much fun at the dam location it was decided that we will cut short the river trail and after some more fun here hit NH11 and do some dune bashing at Raisar. But before that a quick look at the fun we had at the dam.

Animesh captured this picture of Gypsy and did some post processing work:

Others were also trying there hand. Yogesh amazed all with his AT-Grand Vitara. Govind was busy with his Gypsy parked on top of the dam. Jayesh, and few others, were feeling the cold and just happy keeping himslef warm watching others.

Show time over all moved on and caught the NH11A to move at fast pace to Raisar where the next bit of action was planned....

Raisar is situated just off the NH11A. Being a new highway and still under construction there is hardly any traffic. The spot that we had chosen for a bit of action and drama was just beyond Raisar "fanta" and had dunes and drops on either side of the road. The picture below shows what we were going to attempt but does not do justice to the actual challenge and difficulty. Spot the Gypsy on top of the furthest sand hill and you can get idea of the size of challenge:
Trail Blazing #3-20735_247054821804_520546804_3693189_3322109_n.jpg

But even a simple just off the road shoulder challenges were a trap. See Raja Chaterjee caught on the sand bar on one side of the road:
Trail Blazing #3-20735_247054806804_520546804_3693187_657724_n.jpg

And right opposite him on the other side of the road Gurjot in his 4WD Scorpio learnt that power is not sufficient to get away. He had to be pulled out by a tractor:

And the local audience were stunned and left with open mouths
Trail Blazing #3-20735_247065576804_520546804_3693360_6156313_n.jpg

at craziness shown by Trail Blazers........

....Raja was trying to conquer a smaller sand hill on the right side but to get to the base first he had to clear the sand bar on the road side. As he approached it at and angle he got beached with rear left in the air and front right royally dug in:
Trail Blazing #3-20735_247065466804_520546804_3693343_5457674_n.jpg

With just manpower he was pulled back and again he tried and got loos of traction:
Trail Blazing #3-20735_247054806804_520546804_3693187_657724_n.jpg

Then he corrected his approach and using momentum cleared the sand bar:
Trail Blazing #3-20735_247065486804_520546804_3693347_2399060_n.jpg

And showed victory salute from top of the hill:
Trail Blazing #3-20735_247065491804_520546804_3693348_581555_n.jpg

Also attempted to come out of the deep valley by sheer momentum and almost made ot out. Only Siddharth win his Jeep could clear this sand wall others and all others had to use less challenging path out:

The approach to highest hill was through a valley and it was and relatively easy to climb down and attempt the hill climb:
Trail Blazing #3-20735_247054266804_520546804_3693098_3057223_n.jpg

Problems only arose on the way back. You had two options. One was easy way out with lower climb. Easy is only relative here:
Trail Blazing #3-20735_247065521804_520546804_3693353_4378902_n.jpg

Two was the difficult run up the sand slope. Any which trail blazer worth his salt would not choose option two? Even if it had to be attempted again and again and again and resulted in a few torn linings?

Trail Blazing #3-20735_247065551804_520546804_3693357_4146511_n.jpg

Any ways it was something that defeated almost every one much to enjoyment of the local crowd.

Another confab was held and it was pointed out that time was past 1300hrs and we could think of winding up the day. But.........the question of winding up for the day was thrown out with absolute majority and the convoy then headed out to "chattri".
Trail Blazing #3-20735_247065261804_520546804_3693318_2741267_n.jpg

A simple drive to a old guard house outpost in middle of the "lake bed". Of course lake has long since dried out but chattri presented a lovely photo op and s small climb showed a lovely view of the river floor.

Then the convoy moved to the main dam of the lake and a wind up session..........
