Trail Blazing #3 will take place around the town of Manoharpura, located on the NH8 and know for its "Toll Booth".
Right after the toll booth we cross a river bridge. At end of the bridge a track leads off to left and we enter the river bed. We follow the river bed till the Ramgarh Lake.

Challenges include sandy driving, crossing a dam, getting lost(?) traversing trackless river bed etc. A little bit of "Gyan" about approach and departure angles at the end.

Ths would be more of convoy moment for those without GPS. Those having there own GPS can send email for GPX format track.

Start of track is ~190kms from Delhi. Start in Sunday would be early - depending on consensus by everyone on the subject at Shakunt. Not joining for evening D&D?

Have prior engagements saturday night, so I was thinking if I just join in from the NH8 side, drive on river bed, and meet you somewhere midway. Of course will require GPS trails.

We will not assemble and go to Shakunt Resorts but all are expected to reach there directly. D&D is at 2000hrs by a log fire under the stars. If it is too cold or damp we can always move indoors.

The location is about 20~22 kms beyond Kotputli on the NH* connecting Delhi and Jaipur. Us the following link to get the map and driving directions:
MapmyIndia - maps, directions, and local search across India - just search, print and go!

You can get to reception and ask for Govind Singh or Siddharth Singh.

Some more information is available at http://www.shakuntresort.com

The following are confirmed participants with me:
Sudev Barar
Govind Singh (Support Crew)
Sidharth Singh (Support Crew)
Gautam Gode
Gurjot Singh
Gurjot Singh (Sorry I did not note name of his friend)
Nitin Gupta
Neeraj Mittal
Jayesh Desai
Animesh
Tushar Chaudhary
Sunil Dutt
Raj Kapoor
Raju Verma

Any one else please do let me know so that I could book rooms.

Those who are turning up directly also need to let me know so that we may facilitate your joining in. A contribution of Rs1000 towards support teams would be appreciated for those only joining in for the day.

Hi Sudev,

Sounds good.

What about eats, drinks, hot tea coffee and water for the river bed? Does everyone needs to bring of their own or that will be taken care by the team?

I (GV) would be joining from the river bed tentatively with another Pajero and a Prado with friends on 10 morning.

Looking forward to see you all soon.

EDIT- Please let me know about anything you need for the morning.

Okay here is the report, other should also chip in with their perspective:

On 9th evening there was motley crowd of 16 vehicles that turned up at Shakunt for next mornings Trail. Five more joined in next day. We had Prado, Pajero, Grand Vitara XL7, Grand Vitara 2.0, Fortuner, Jeep, Gypsy, Bolero, Scorpio, Tuscon....

A nice D&D was enjoyed by the bonfire. As the midnight neared the area was enveloped with a thick fog. Those who drove in late reported there was no fog in Delhi but area from Midway, Behror, on wards was in thick fog.

So we went to bed at midnight wondering if 0900hrs start was going to be possible....

Contd:

Early morning alarm woke me up at 0630hrs. It was freezing cold and dense fog was visible from window. But where was the promised bed tea? Ultimately around 0710hrs the knock on the door announced bed tea. Little did we know that unlucky few never got piping hot tea. Breakfast started at eight and by 0845hrs the convoy was ready to roll.

Some people wanted the tracks loaded on the GPS and some wanted to try their hands at navigating to way points without the tracks. As soon as the convoy re-assembled on the river bed all explorers lost their appetite for doing anything without the benefit of tracks, The fog all around made it imperitive that all stick together.

And promptly on entering the river bed XL7 got bogged down. Only then the owner, Sunil Ditt, realised that the 4x4 was not engaging. Thank god he discovered it now as he is planning to do the Desert Storm in endure category in the same machine. So we parked it to a side and left it there. All the cars lined up for a group snap only to have Nitin's Bolero getting bogged down too and it too was left there.

As the convoy moved in to the mist Raja Chaterjee radioed that he had skidded on to a ditch and needed to be rescued. And the convoy had left him behind.....
