Not so Live Report: Bangalore Annual OTR, Avalakondu 24-25 Jan 2010!

Hi, It was a dream come true fro me. It was a great meeting with you all.
Enjoyed every moment of the event and it was all learning and i had nothing to speak. Amazing Knowledge, team work and attitude.

The lunch team was in group 3 and by the time they reached the lunch spot (it was on a rock face) it was almost close to 3:00 PM. We were a bit disappointed out here when people started taking 2 -3 helpings of Nimbooz / Eggs. They simply didn’t bother about the people behind them. Just let us know how much short and we will all chip in the cover the expenses (we all have dwaraka's account details). You people have already spent too much specially in terms of time and energy. Now let us do our small bit.

Folks,

Vivek and others have already summerised the event in detail. Nothing much to add, but we still need to be more organised. Anyway it is a learning curve. Good to see so many offroaders from chennai, hyderabad, pune and mumbai.

Special thanks to MP sreenivas for his single handed effort, his wife and his hiking friends for their continuous support and untiring effort. They all deserve a big round of applause from all participants.

It was an Honour having UBS, jeep dada and Behram Dhabhar- brain behind Thar with us.

I did not open my bag for camera first day, so no photos of first day. Second day OTR , I have couple of videos and some action pictures in hold. Posting them here.

Among them Thar looks to be premium.

Hi Folks,

My son and I had an awesome time at the OTR.. It was great to experience the work hard, play hard attitude or fellow jeepers, their passion as well as their softer & funnier sides. Thanks to one and all that have lent to the success of this event and look forward to more such events in the future.

I am REALLY happy that my Jeep held its own for the 1st time in 3 tries and has given me a lot more confidence!!

P.S. Arka could not keep his eyes off my bling Jeep

he said he had to get his darkest pair of sunglasses to see my "shiny 3B".

I would like to thank everybody for this wonderful event. It is all the more special since it was my first OTR.
A few people whom i want to thank once again:
i) To all the organizers of the event. Thank you very much. I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it.
ii) To Jaggu and Rudro, my navigators. They were there helping me through out the day. If you guys are wondering about who Rudro was baby sitting, it was me

iii) To my dearest friends: Siddhu, Vijay, Shahnawaz, Tejas, Andy, Rajesh, Suresh, Vinod and many others who were helping me with the trail. If you have a look at pictures in Lalu's post here: http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/1700241-post43.html, you would find Siddhu and Vijay on almost every picture. Thank you so much Siddhu & Vijay Sir. I really owe you one!
iv) To Lalu, Rudro, Akaash, SV and all others for taking pictures of my Gypsy. Thank you guys. I will really treasure these pictures. @Lalu: Thanks buddy!!
v) To UBS Sir, Behram Sir, Arka, Vinod, Tejas, Cougar, Deepak (DKG). I used to read your posts on Team BHP and always wanted to meet you. Could not meet Vikram, other Jeepers from Chennai, Spike, and many others.. Maybe next time.. It was also very nice to meet Babu, Ganesh, Pradeep, Rajachu, Prithvi, Sandeep, Nitin and several others.
vi) To Ajay for quenching our thirst, Vinay for Jeep Thrills sticker, Rehaan, Kaiser & Family for the yummy lunch, MP Sreenivasan and family for that hot coffee in the evening.
vii) Mahindra team for coming over all the way from Mumbai, bringing Thar for all of us, also driving through the entire trail, helping us out on the trail.
viii) Everyone else who were part of the event!
Honestly, when i started to see the trail, i was just looking for an escape route to get out of it

I was dazed looking at the trail. I did not believe that my Gypsy could make it. Forget scratches and dents, i just wanted to make it to Bangalore with my Gypsy (in one piece, yes i mean my Gypsy here).
At the end of it, i am really happy that i participated. I have a new respect to Jeeps and Gypsies. I still envy Jeeps for its ability to crawl! I have learnt a lot in this event and still there is a long way to go for me. I realized that i was a bit too fast on certain stretches on the trail where i should learn to be slower. I was using the clutch in certain parts of the trail which i should not, will learn to get away from this habit. Another bad habit, i'll not say it here, only Jaggu & Rudro know! *WINK*
I wish i had opted to stay the next day too. Anyway, there is always a next time.
Till then, take care everybody and drive safe.
