You must change oil only when you find water in the oil sample that you take out of the diff's and the gearbox. Gurkha has tall breathers, hence it shouldn't be a problem. But it is better to check always!

Its a good idea to change oils since the vehicle was submerged till the winshield, breather hose wouldnt be sitting taller than this?

I am not sure abt Gurkha, but in my Gypsy I had closed the Breather hole with a small stud and never faced any problem of water entering into diffrential.

You have permanently closed your breather hole? Did you ever wonder why were they given at first place?

Please unblock it now and extend the pipes.

Thanks Vinod, your point is valid.

I am not sure whether I will remove it or not, coz I had not faced any problem in last ten years with it, I normally change diffrential oil after every 20,000 to 30,000 Kms and I still found it in good conditions. I think your concern is the gases generted in the oil but I think they easily make there way through the threads of screw or from somewhere and they are minimum when the oils is in good condition.

Hi Alok,

Check and clean the Breather Plugs. If the Plugs are blocked, then while running, the oil heats up and the hot air/gasses cannot escape, thereby creating a High Pressure inside the T-Case and vent through the oil-seals or weaker joints (sealing).

are we guys going to change engine oil every week?? can we find a sponser

i think night OTR is the best thing to do on saturday night.
