1. That was GSferrari in the white hardtop gypsy you are talking about? Can't blame him. It was his first time and none of us were around to tell him what to do.

3. No. It didn't work. Tried 5 times. With the winch and the wire steel ropes, the pajero didn't budge. But according to Prashant who was inside the Pajero, with the KE strap, it did move a few inches. However, that was it.

What a Super OTR report. The best I have read so far. You guys really had a blast on this one. Superb narration and punchlines used. All the 4x4s seem to be flying everywhere. Gogi your Jeep looks awesome. I think I really need to hop in as a passenger in the next one

Actually If you did it in 2l or even 3l , you would have cleared the obstacle as behram did in one go.

1l is too low a gear so when you accelerate up a slope like the one being atempted your wheels tend to spin becuase of the massive torque and the coeffecient of friction required by the tyres to hold the ground is overcome.

In my experience you should try 3l or 4h first gear and if the vehicle is struggling because of loss of power shift to the next lower gear.

1. The black Classic. No sweat, it was not dangerous at that particular juncture but could have been if the brakes had given way and terrain was steeper.

I guess these are the pitfalls of having more participants than anyone can handle. Learning at every step for everyone

I loved every snap and video. What a way for guys from Mumbai/Pune to dive into the OTR scene.

Hi Doc Mohan and the Maha Off-Roaders,

It was a superbly organized event, and as it grows more people will take up the responsibility and even the execution of the event will be flawless.

Off-Road Driving is like cultivating any other skill requires patience, time and discipline.

It was a good move to take permission from the DFO, and use private land and some artificial obstacles.

Also it goes a long way if the locals are made a part of the scheme/plan.

Each vehicle can take one kid up a absolutely safe obstacle, if the the kids are happy then the parents will definitely be very helpful, I have experienced this many times over in the OTRs.

However it is a suggestion to minimize water obstacles since Fresh water is at a premium, especially near hamlets and villages.

A Water Crossing in a flowing river is better, as the water is not stagnant.

Also be careful of Stagnant Water (small ponds/lakes), people use that for bathing/washing/defecating, the water carriers a lot of diseases.

And since you guys are under the scanner of Environmentalist Groups I suggest you take extra precaution about garbage/plastics bags wrappers/bottles and Cigarettes.

black classic was prasad, again it was his first time so may be one or two more OTRs and he should learn engine braking

NC, i dont think so anyone has manual winch ka video because it was too dark and most of us were kind of exhausted and busy trying to get it out.

Can someone please elaborate on "ENGINE BRAKING"?

I am assuming that it is not the same as using lower gears to reduce speed (Inreasing engine speed/RPMs). My classic does not engage first gear while in motion.
