Dentists.. if I may correct! Im sure there is a big difference between the two though im sure a dentist may still be more capable than an untrained and inexperienced commoner.

But im sure among the entire group there will be enough number of folks with ample experience and presence of mind to be able to handle any possible emergencies.

@MOTOCAMP > Its really wonderful to see how this entire event is shaping up along with the EXAMM. Though I will be unable to participate even as a spectator.. the entire buildup of the excitement is quite enjoyable on these pages. I hope this event is a grand success and sets the stage for better things to come.

Kudos and my best wishes!

Cheers,

Jay

Unfortunately I am not able to get my Gurkha, as last sunday I dented it's roof while in an OTR. Got it today and Force says they wont be able to get parts till monday.

I am anyways coming and hopefully would be adjusted as passenger, and if required can run for the organizers as bell boy. looking forward to this OTR and meeting all Net friends of TBHP

Hi Rahul,

C'Mon, its only a dent that too on the Roof, get it fixed after EXAMM, I think the Mighty Gurkha will live with that.

You can definitely hop into my JEEP.

Regards,

Arka

Hey Kunal and friends, this event has shaped up very well. I am feeling so frustrated for not being able to attend this.

My best regards and wishes to Indian offroad community for showing such strength.

Dentists are Doctors too and are basically honed in with what medicines one might need. I hope you were not expecting a specialist, in any case that might be asking for a bit too much, anyways the dentists can take care of the fangs:-)

Mahindra Recovery Teams Experience of Alpha Kilo Challenge Trail

Guys,
I have been fortunate enough to be one of the first guys to taste the terrain along with my recovery team. We guys were there with a purpose which is a secret for now. The other reason why we were there is to prepare ourselves for the job, to place ourseves in strategic locations where one would require towing/winching. We were had about 6 vehicles in total including a scorpio, Bolero and a getaway. The trail was done on 4 vehicles from Mahindra team Scorpio and Getaway being parked to minimise damage.

My experience so far-
  • Please do not bring in your big heavy SUV's. You will damage them and waste precious time in recovery
  • The weather may surprise you. It may rain or even be super hot with humidity. So, please be prepared with essentials like snacks and plenty of water. (We ran out of water and it was hot. Drank water from the streams flowing below and had luch at 7.00 p.m)
  • This is a jeep terrain just like Alvakponda trail. So gypsy guys beware. It can get very slippery. Please avoid toppling. There are plenty of places where you require articulation. So expect no go in such conditions. My NGCS MM550 lifted its wheel more than often!
  • If it rains heavily there would be streams flowing and terrain would be slippery. So guys please come prepared with good MT tyres. They are a must! My recovery 550 was running road tyres:-(
  • Please ensure your wiper and rain gear is up to mark not to mention your 4wd.
  • Terrain is challenging. Some may find it super tough and some will find it tough and bigges may find it good. But one thing is sure you all will like it and is worth driving up so far and attending it.
Now some things to caution for-

There has been a tremendous response for this event including EXAMM. But guys believe me accomodation is going to be a problem including urinals. Originally this event was supposed to host about 45 guys in total but now this is more than 100. Kunal has worked hard and is trying to make best out of what ever possible. So, please avoid last minute entries and additions.

My only aprehension is on crowd management and accomodation. But iam sure inspite of what ever small inconveniences we all are going to have fun!!

One scary place-
There was a section where i was swinging my tail out on the steep slope. If i had turned even slightly i would have toppled. In the process i got stuck between a V shape gully. I was recovered by a winch as i had one wheel high up in the air and front and rear end of the chassis stuck on either side of the rut (rock). This is difficuilt for you to visualise. Our heavier vehicles avoided this section.

Some teaser samples of this terrain (easier sections)-

I have lot many action pics. They are processing. Will paste it after the event. Will not spoil the suspense now.
