I think Allan is truly blessed to have such a wonderful workshop at his disposal and even more blessed to have such a challenging trail right there in his backyard. I am blessed to know Allan and to be a part of Extremeoffroaders because I get invited to these events.

When I got the message from Tejas saying "Mahape OTR....in?" I wasn't too enthused because I found it hard to believe that you could find a good trail so close to home. After today's OTR I think this is a really nice trail worthy of a full-day OTR / time-trial kind of event.

Had fun with the articulation tests...We should consider doing articulation tests on peeing dogs as well. At least Gogi seems to think so in the pic above

I didn't have "Geoff" the Gypsy with me unfortunately as he is getting some TLC at M.A.S.S. I rode shotgun with Gogi instead in the unstoppable CJ which weirdly did end up getting stuck at one obstacle which looked so inoccuous that I was incredulous when we had to tow Gogi out.

We had several party groups pass by with their beverages to relax on the lush greens and sit by the water bodies. Really pretty scenery which reminded me of "Hobbiton" from the Lord Of The Rings.

This is my second OTR as a passenger and I honestly believe it is more fun this way because there are so many things to do:

1. Spotting
2. Fly-Swatting
3. Encouraging the driver
4. Talking smack about the others in a conspiratory tone with Gogi
5. Chuckling with glee watching Allan getting coated with the most horrible smelling slush you've ever seen!

Speaking of the Flies - they were these HUGE, feisty and bitey horse flies. Very hard to get rid of and they packed a painful bite to boot. Clever buggers often targeted the back, back of your neck, ankles and anywhere hard for you to reach. Had I know these man-eaters were also invited by Tejas, I would have packed a potent insect repellant. I guess they are a part of the "Starter Kit" we get for becoming members of ExtremeOffroaders

Honestly, Gogi and I spent SO MUCH time swatting these demons that it got distracting mid-way through an obstacle. Too bad there aren't any videos this time but the others were having a gala time watching the two of us struggle. For some reason most of the flies decided to camp in Gogi's CJ!

Roll-On the next OTR...this is an AMAZING season to be going off-road!

It's already being planned. The only reason we did this OTR was to show all of you'll the terrain. Wait for the challenge!

That's part of the "ragging", "hazing", "initiation ceremony" to the extreme offroaders...! lol

Since for a change, Tejas actually created a OTR thread, AFTER an OTR and told us what happened first....
Let me fast forward and tell you what happened last...

Fast forward to around 2.30 pm...

We come out of the terrain, Devang goes into a truck service station, and Paras in trying to follow him, but not being able to see to the side, back, and most of his front windshield, goes a little ahead and stops right in front of a police checkpost (This is the border between Thane and Navi Mumbai)

The cops come running out on seeing this unidentified driving object caked with black camouflage.
They calm down when I step out and they see a camera in my hand rather than other accessories.

Cop: "What happened?"
Me: "Ummmm, Nothing?"

Cop: "Why is the car like that?"
Me: "Because we went for a drive?"

Cop: "Looks like you guys had a major party!"
Me: "That we did, but minus the stimulants since we dont drink and drive"

Cop: "Then why is the car like that?"
Me : "Because..."

The road to paradise is a long journey

Extreme Offroaders - Mini OTR at Mahape: 11 July, 2010-road_paradise.jpg

So you take your friends along for the ride

Extreme Offroaders - Mini OTR at Mahape: 11 July, 2010-friends.jpg

Sometimes it does get a little rocky

Extreme Offroaders - Mini OTR at Mahape: 11 July, 2010-rocky.jpg

And sometimes downright dirty

But you always put on your best smile

And on the way you discover some magical spots

And could wait forever but must move on

Extreme Offroaders - Mini OTR at Mahape: 11 July, 2010-irrigating.jpg

Since there are new mountains to be climbed

Extreme Offroaders - Mini OTR at Mahape: 11 July, 2010-climbing.jpg

Paths to be made where none existed

And new horizons to be explored

Guru, Excessive smileys in your post mate..Didn't know you had insect-peevs.. and I wonder why all the bugs were attracted towards gogi and you (and the Gogi's CJ)

Soumya, you're writing skills are getting better after you got the CJ.. find a way to mount a camera on the jeep so you can multitask..

Tejas, Allan, Devang - This was fun, we should do the entire area once - Perfect testing grounds and there is sooo much more to be explored..

Cheers..
Prasad

Probably because they were 'repelled' by the gunk on Allan's jeep and its occupants?
