The title video... njoy.

It was the mother of all recoveries....!!! At least I have never heard of such a huge machine being ever used to recover any stuck vehicle.

How Loose the sand was beneath the dry top. There was a virtual lake beneath a foot of sand

The starter - wolf was the 1st to get stuck, that led to Tirumal and Roby

Lucky Tirumal

Roby gunning to the top

This video reminds me of highly sensual scenes in old movies...where they fudge the picture or fade things so you cant see the bloody climax...

^^ - dont blame me, all vids above are from CatchKumar's cam, Looks like they are overexposed. Dwarak also has a bunch of pics and vids, especially the 'jump'. Sir, please post them soon...

----------------Last set of pics from myside--------------

This was the dead end after the steep climb over the mountain.

Of Jeep's, Gypsy, Landy and a L&T Komatsu - OTR/Recee (Off Kanakpura) - 11Jul2010-dead-end.jpg

So we backtracked, and went even higher... this was a steeep climb. The video above shows how steep.

Of Jeep's, Gypsy, Landy and a L&T Komatsu - OTR/Recee (Off Kanakpura) - 11Jul2010-climb-higher.jpg

This was the round rainbow around the sun that day. It was not visible in bangy... we were lucky.

Couple of my Jeep pics

Lunch - thanks to CatchKumar for the yummy cream+jam filled buns.

Of Jeep's, Gypsy, Landy and a L&T Komatsu - OTR/Recee (Off Kanakpura) - 11Jul2010-lunch....jpg

After lunch we scaled down, the landy (in the pic) took some time for strategic planning, helped by tirumal.

Of Jeep's, Gypsy, Landy and a L&T Komatsu - OTR/Recee (Off Kanakpura) - 11Jul2010-see-how-high-we-scaled.jpg

After we came down, we went near the quarry and found a nice jump spot.

Later, we drove out of the quarry. I drove out 1st in this same patch and i did not have issues then. Looks like the water percolation beneath (due to a broken pipe) caused this... Wolf making the 1st mark

Where is the tyre?

Of Jeep's, Gypsy, Landy and a L&T Komatsu - OTR/Recee (Off Kanakpura) - 11Jul2010-where-tyre.jpg

No hope yet...

Of Jeep's, Gypsy, Landy and a L&T Komatsu - OTR/Recee (Off Kanakpura) - 11Jul2010-no-hope.jpg

It was water and more water beneath the dry surface

Of Jeep's, Gypsy, Landy and a L&T Komatsu - OTR/Recee (Off Kanakpura) - 11Jul2010-water-beneath-dry-sand.jpg

Quick sand?

Of Jeep's, Gypsy, Landy and a L&T Komatsu - OTR/Recee (Off Kanakpura) - 11Jul2010-see-quick-sand.jpg

Next was tirumal who got stuck.

Of Jeep's, Gypsy, Landy and a L&T Komatsu - OTR/Recee (Off Kanakpura) - 11Jul2010-tirumal-stuck.jpg

After that, Roby got stuck and no other jeep could help him out that day. Winch was badly missed.

Yeah, the usual rates of tractor is 500/Hour and JCB is 1000/Hr and such large machines are in the range of 2-3K/Hr. He was a good chap and since roby, gang and the owner/manager spoke the same language - literally - the deal was made a lot easier. I am pretty sure the situation there was hopeless - until the L&T drove in...!!

Dwarak - thx for the pics. Where is the Jump vid?
