Re: Toyota Fortuner Boot Camp

Just a small update: Its being arranged in co-ordination with Auto Car India.

Also I am a complete newbie to off-roading. All the experts and all the bhp'ians who attended the event last year please advice if this event is suitable to a complete newbie? Thanks

Yes you can safely take part in it -- even if you have NEVER used the 4wd gear level also in your life.

The only damage, if you are careful, should be a mud bath that your vehicle would get. But then they will help you clean it also with a wash.

Do try and attend if you have the opportunity. You will love it.

IMHO, the fortuner owners are a scared lot to take 22L+ vehicles on jagged roads, despite vehicle capability. Some sections are tarred just to allay their fears till they get hang of it.'

Are'nt you glad, the way we stomp our Jeeps and Gypsies all over the natural terrain and not depend on these man-made terrains. I had a blast in recently concluded EXAMM OTR, though I never go to drive. Guess how?..??

Apart from a few T-BHP members, a lot of other T-FORT owners will be participating. There are 4 batches of 25 cars each over a period of 2 days.

The last boot camp had a good response, both in Mumbai and Bangalore.

I did get an exemption from the rule for this one and was present with my Fortuner today.

Met Monaro CV8 but sorry i was busy in conversation with an old friend of mine and owner of the venue. The instructors Tejas, Allan and Manan did an excellent job and kept the casualties to a minimum.

My take on the event was that it was excellent for the first timers and for the people looking for a thrill. The track for people like me was a cake walk and i kept being held back by a fortuner in front of me, so i had to stop and wait for him to give me space to move. I guess he was'nt speedy enough... Overall a very good event and i enjoyed myself.

I was there too! In the 8AM batch. What about you speedy? I was assisted by Allan who was patient enough with us as I was off-roading for the first time!! I enjoyed a lot and looking forward to more such experience. I got stuck where a F ortuner in front of us got stuck and had to be pulled out with the help of a winch. Good experience overall!

I was there at 10am upto 330pm...i had not registered but drove the track. I guess you came in with the convoy and the lone fortuner standing opp where the participants had parked was mine. i was the last to go on the track too, since i wanted the novices to dig in and spoil the track in order to make it a bit more challengeing for me.
