Dear All,

We had one of the most challenging recce for two days, with sleepless nights, few break downs and undo able stretches.

Recce participants

Robinson & Rejesh - Invader
Shibu & Parvez - MM550
Jayesh & Nowfel - MM540
Sam Kurien & Riyad - Invader (only for Day 2 recce)

The climatic condition was just normal. No rains, but had few quick strong showers during the day time. The day was bit sunny, with unexpected mist falling for few mnts with a temperature of 23 degree (approx). The night was very cold, around 11 degree.

Day one recce (Medium Track)

The stretch is a combination of mild slush, rock, lose rocks, heavy ruts and jungle drive. The most challenging part are the ruts as they are deep enough get all wheel stuck. We all managed to pass through the rock and lose bolder, but had to return back during the rut challenge, as the invader lost its clutch completely. During the attempt to climb the most difficult rut, my vehicles both left tyres fell on the rut, that impact gave a flex to the chassis and the cross member. The clutch rod which is connected to the transmission and chassis came out due to the force full impact. So we reverse the vehicle which took more than 2hours to get the invader on flat surface. Drove back to the base camp with zero clutch on 1 low.
But this stretch has been finalized for the day one. Perahaps we would plan minor diversion at the last mnt, depending on the condition of the trail.

Driving tips / Suggestion and observations for Day one

Tyre pressure in the rage of 20 psi
Mild acceleration to keep control on your vehicle
Vehicles with LSD & Lockers will have great advantage
Wider rims and A/T tyres doing well
Skid plate for fuel tank and oil sump
Additional plate to cover the fuel line from the fuel tank.

Day two Recce (Extreme Track)

We have two options for day two
1. Vattavada dam
2. Kundala dam (Drive on tarmac approx: 25 kms towards Munnar town)

Will finalize the trail during our next recce

Option one is a combination of short heavy mud, lose slippery mud & rock with heavy incline, pine forest, extreme slippery grass mud combination with incline and turns, water cross on dam top and beautiful jungle drive. some part of the stretch are deep enough to role down more than 100 ft. All the participants need to be very very careful while pushing your vehicles on such stretches.
Due to time constrain we had to return back after the slippery grass mud combination. This track is guaranteed to be one of the most challenging one. Will finalize the day two track by the mid of nov.

Driving tips / Suggestion and observations for Day two

Tyre pressure in the rage of 20 psi
Mild acceleration to keep control on your vehicle
Some patch of the stretch with heavy flooring due to incline.
Vehicles with LSD & Lockers will have great advantage
Wider rims and M/T tyres are the best combination
Skid plate for fuel tank and oil sump
Additional plate to cover the fuel line from the fuel tank.
Would advice maximum winch vehicles.
