Bangalore boyz...

Bangalore boyz... less than a week to go
Please put down your interested/intended time of leaving Bangy.

a) Thursday morning
b) Thursday late evening
c) Friday early morning

I know Jaggu warned me, but I am still optimistic

Bombay Boyz... Are your trucks/drives finalized? When are you going to arrival at bangalore? Your arrival here can pan into the departure time from bangy.

Trucking is turning out to be expensive so everyone is gonna drive down.

We are still figuring out the route to take and need to come to a consensus on when to leave.

Now which route is this?

I thought the closest from Coimbatore is
Coimbatore- Pollachi- Udumalpet-Marayoor- Munnar.

Around 150 kms.

The route is picturesque all along the way with drastic change in geography.

Benny,

Sunils route is a intended-longer one just for adventure and exploring new roads.

When are you planning to hit udumalpet? May be we can catch up there. I am planning udumalpet on friday morning. How about you?

@Tejas - Ok, will watch out for your plans. Please post it here once finalized.

Beejay, for you that is the shortest route. For sunil i guess he is covering valpari and the forest route to see athirapalli waterfalls etc and reaching munnar is actually a very very long drive.he can take a deveiation from avinashi to pollachi and enter into valpari and from there drive to amaravathi which is in chinnar -udumalpett route and reching munnar is the best if he can miss the forest trail at sholayar.

Normally, the military officers here shift base during this time. I saw container trucks this morning too assembled in the defence area. These trucks are used to ship their cars back home.
These trucks are mostly MH registered and from up north. I am not sure where they arrive from. I will try to find out today. Should work cheap if they are coming down empty.
But, is there time now?

Santosh, I am leaving on Friday morning from Coimbatore. Do not have any fixed plans as yet. Will just go as it comes, I enjoy these kind of drives, especially in the Jeep and the Pollachi route is just mind blowing, with all those huge wind mills and all.

Trust me, you don want to wait for me. Coming with a friend who is joining along mainly for the liquid pitstops on route. Im looking forward to it too.

For sure you will see us in some "restaurant" or the road. Will call you once I hit that stretch.

Thanks Raj, so I am going the right route.

Well it is a days drive from bangalore to munnar, The best route is through udmalpet & before reaching munnar town you have the road to matupatty dam which head to towards the base camp & one will be there before sunset

Any landmark to take the left turn? And by base camp you mean the resort?

Roby,

Please post directions from Munnar town to the resort. IIRC it is on the road to top slip, right? But where to deviate/proceed from the top slip point?
