Hyderabad will see some action on the Off Roading front after quite a while. Will definitely be there.

BTW why do we have a 4x2 section? Aren't there Jeeps in Hyderabad already?

Been to the under construction 4X4 track today, its a challenging one from inclines, 45 degree humps, articulation track, slush (here it is going to be tough as just after crossing the 60 foot long, knee deep slush track... there is a steep, winding and long incline which is going to get slippery as the day progresses). Long stretched out inclines and slopes rule the track.

Overall it is designed to be enjoyable yet challenging, but there are going to be a lot many who will find the going getting tough...
but then it is all about the tough get going, Right?

The 4X2 track is a different one much easier on the nerves and the machines.

24th Oct, Sunday is a day to watch out for... big surprises and upsets.

Regards,

Fazal,

How tough is the track for the first time off-roaders? I intend to participate, but this would be the first off-roading that I would venture into. Tips are welcome

Cheers,

Cheers,
Fazal sahib has already updated you all about the track.

Thanks to him Prabhu, Arun and me had been to see the track yesterday. Have to say that it is not an easy track but that should not put any new comer off, for what I was told by the organisers is that they have provisions for recoveries in place, in the rare event of one needing them.

Moreover they have also a 4x2 track separately maybe where one could try his hand. This is a relatively easy track with hardly any obstacles as in the 4x4 track.

Would ask you to definitely get there look at the track for yourself and decide.

Am sure its going to be a great event. Looking forward to seeing you all there.

Cheers,
Ardy,
The below attachment (source T-BHP) is the bible for any new comer or veterans in off-roading. I go through it many times and keep it on my desktop.

DO NOT DEVIATE FROM THE INSTRUCTIONS.

It is a tough track, yet not one that cannot be overcome by a rookie...the below line from a great off-roader to be always remembered.

Sir Behram,
"I first cross the obstacle mentally".

Win the battle first in your mind and believe in yourself, you may not go through the whole track successfully, many experienced guys too may not on that track, that day. But you will gain in confidence and experience for your next.
All the best.

adzegeek,
Take the main entry into Shamshabad airport, let the first round about go by, just before the second one (that leads to Srisailam highway and Novotel) you will find a dirt road leading to the venue.
There will be enough signs, banners and activity for you to miss it.
See you there.

Fazal,

I have read it a couple of times. But reading it quite different from the practicing it. I am in for the Sunday event and hope to implement the theory

Hope to meet you and other offroaders on Sunday.

Spoke to Shams and confirmed my participation.

Thanks for the wishes.

Ardy,

Got your point of implementing it at the right time.

I tell this to myself:
Enjoy it and let each foot you drive, pass by as experience gained.
Be careful but not over as it will choke you.
Don't be rash.
Let me first go through this obstacle in my mind first.
Once you are in, don't look back.
Whatever the outcome never regret as you have only gained.
Be mentally strong and believe you can do it.

All the best and see you there.

Regards,

Oh Adil Saab, it was a real real great fun, and your tips helped in clearing all the obstacles with an ease. Hope to have many more such events at regular intervals.

Adnan,
You are most welcome for whatever little I did.

Some random shots from today, more to be uploaded by fellow T-BHPians. Watch out for the Jeeps on display coming in later.

Fazal bhai, great initial pictures!

It was a wonderful event that was organized and executed with precision including the management and times of event commencement etc.

The jeeps performed flawlessly and came out with top honours. However, it was sad to see their expensive counterparts like Suzuki Vitara, Q7, Q5, Porsche Cayane Turbo have a real tough time to overcome the hurdles.

Most of folks watching had their heart in their mouth when the Porsche got stuck on that uphill with its 3 wheels in the air and entire chassis kissing the ground. Thank god the organizers came to rescue and brought it out of its predicament without any ( hopefully) damage

Even the Vitara took quite a few bangs to the underbody.

The course design was beautiful and quite extreme bringing out the best in the jeeps that participated. Long wheel base vehicles did have a tough time indeed.

All in all, it was a wonderful afternoon spent at this event
