| ![]() Guys I thought I would put down a few thoughts on minimum vehicle preparation for the AKC based on the terrain. The better prepared the more fun you will have. This is nothing to do with the mechanical aspect of your vehicle as this has been discussed in various threads. I trust everybody will ensure that his or her vehicle is serviced, thoroughly checked and in the best possible condition. Feel free to add to the list. The terrain here is very rocky and we will be wheeling through V shaped gullies with extreme approach and departure angles so remove all side, rear steps and running boards, I know I know! Your vehicle is lifted etc etc….it’s still going to rip right off, so better to remove it intact back home. If possible please remove your front and rear bumpers (the type that have no structural importance but are mainly aesthetic) especially pertinent to the gypsy guys, we had one gypsy attempt part of the trail and went home with a reshaped rear end. Please ensure you have good tires (Mud terrain are best)No matter what tires you have MT,AT,NDMS etc you will NOT make it past the first obstacle with bald tires and will have to deal with the very pissed off of guys behind your stuck vehicle. The trail is going to be very wet with water fording at a few points so even though you might not need it a snorkel is always a good idea. As far as possible please carry your own tow strap with at least one shackle. Getting mentally prepared for the trail. The trail is tight at a few points and you will have branches and bushes rubbing against the vehicle side, so expect the paint to get slightly scratched. Expect some damage and dents, its not a crime and might add some character to your Jeep, gypsy You will be driving over some obstacles that might cause slight discomfort ![]() For last years Veterans:This is a totally new trail from last year, designed by nature for maximum 4x4 fun! If possible please ensure that all vehicles have 1) Seat Belt for Driver & Co-Passenger. 3) Roll-Cages for vehicle without B-Pillar & Doors (CJ3B/CJ500D). If the above two points are enforced, in all OTR events, the safety standard will improve and correspondingly the we can tackle more demanding obstacles. Regards, Arka | |

![]() seat belts are mandatory for the AKC and have been mentioned on the website. I totally agree with you on point number 2 about the roll cage especially for vehicles with no B pillars. I personally feel every one should invest in a well constructed roll cage b pillar or not and have 4 point seat belts. This is the only way we can improve our skills and push our limits safely. The AKC trail has been thought out very carefully and vehicles which do not have a b pillar can circumvent the more challenging obstacles where tipping over is a possibility. Guys invest in a ROLL CAGE! | |

| ![]() I personally feel every one should invest in a well constructed roll cage b pillar or not and have 4 point seat belts. Guys invest in a ROLL CAGE! I second that absolutely. A roll cage is a must. As for the 4 point seat belts, good ones' are available, but they have an 'expiry date'. Have to be replaced every two to three years (still worth it). I personally find the conventional seat belt a bit of a hinderance OTR. I know it is priceless, but somehow, OTR, seat belts suck, big time. 4 point seat belts make a person totally immobile, so I have my reservations regarding that. But this is totally my personal opinion, which I am sure is not totally prudent. |

| ![]() The trail is difficult and you can expect 2 to 3 places with water upto the top of your tire. you will not be able to avoid the water crossings. In the end the trail condition depends on the weather and how much it rains around those days. I dont have any pictures right now and the terrain will be different in july as compared to the present as it is dry. |
