Re: EXAMM! 2011 Dates Announced: 16-17 July '11 (Sat-Sun)

I would recommend vehicle and obstacles classifications / level of difficulty.

Vehicle classification:
  • Class 3 - SUVs / Softraders (Example only - the experts and "O" team can define this further)
  • Class 2 - Stock 4x4 Without serious mods (Example only - the experts and "O" team can define this further)
  • Class 1 - Extreme category (Example only - the experts and "O" team can define this further)
Obstacle / difficulty classification:
  • Level 3 - Trails and point to point movement without too many obstacles (Suitable for class 3 vehicles)
  • Level 2 - Mahindra Great Escape level (2010) + moderately challenging obstacles
  • Level 1 - Warranty voiding stuff
Once again, the above classifications are examples only that will have to be thought through well by the "O" team; BUTTT.. will help the organisers and the participants in a big way

Markers:
  • Prominent Classification Stickers on vehicles will be essential
  • Prominant Obstacle classification markers will also be essential.
Implementation / Adherence
  • Enforcing these restrictions/guidelines - lies with the O team
  • Following these restrictions/guidelines - lies with the participants + reduces the "kar le kar le" or "daal de" peer pressure and will benefit yourselves and other participants.
Let's learn from last years EXAMM and the Recce's to come and implement this!!

LET THE PLANNING BEGIN!!!

Cheers..
Prasad

Just my two bits.

I feel we should try to keep things as simple as we can.
Trying to enforce too many rules and having many categories will be very very tough especially if the weather is bad...and we really truly hope that happens

True that Kunal..

I guess I forgot to mention the main part..

We have to keep it simple and not let too many restrictions and suck the fun out of the event..

[quote=Tejas@perioimpl;2278859]Venue will be put up shortly. It will most likely be lonavla but different trails than last time.

People loved the scenic beauty of the Western ghats in 2010. That is one thing that will be constant!

@Godfather, endy will not be able to make it out in one piece.

Guys, there will be a proper official release of the event tomorrow.

EDIT: amol: the TPC will be in august 15th. so we can't go later than that. last year examm was in june and we got rains. if it doesn't rain by third week of july, there'll be serious trouble for the economy as well! :P

guys i am on, in whatever capacity i can, can help out in organising too, as far as Goa goes, great venue, but not great in obstacle wise offroading and difficulties in , also the locals might create a probles, as we found out last time., BUT I AM ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Guys: Why not earlier in June? Cos, it takes a week for the event and there are only 3 left to prepare vehicles for TPC 11.

Mostly I am in..as a co-driver

Re: EXAMM! 2011 Dates Announced: 16-17 July '11 (Sat-Sun)

Vikram - we need RAIN!

If we don't have rain then you guys will be in for a horrid time with the searing heat. If we have pre-monsoon showers then we will have crazy humidity to go with it and nobody will be happy.

We can't plan the obstacles also because until it is raining heavily we don't know which parts of the terrain are going to be doable and how deep the water fording sections will turn out.

There is a good 1 month after the event until TPC which should be enough for any break-fix or mods.

Why co-driver? We would like to see you doing your thang! Bring the Gypsy da...I'd like to see the performance with crawlers and all while going through slush and slippery climbs/descents.

Re: EXAMM! 2011 Dates Announced: 16-17 July '11 (Sat-Sun)

Ok you've got a few things wrong here:

1. Front LSD - I don't have this
2. 4" Lift - I don't have this
3. Crawlers - I don't have this (yet)
4. Snorkel - I don't have this (yet)
5. Custom remap - I don't have this

Are you sure you are talking about my Gypsy?

Yes AC works but I don't use it on the trail. Bring your vehicle dude...it is nice to drive across the country to experience a different trail in your own vehicle. I attended Palar right? Come and attend AKC and EXAMM...other Chennai guys had a BLAST last time!

For whatever reason if you are not able to drive down - come along and bring that ex-teambhp member Mr.Flamethrower or Fieryflower or whatever his name is with you

I do have a fast Gypsy. Does 90 kph which is still about 35 more than Arka on the NH4

Plenty of time for you also to drive your Gypsy down. Introduce everyone to your creation.

Bala - you had a blast last time. It is still early days but see if you can round up Pat, Venky, Vijay and anybody else you can think of.

Tell Vikram to bring his Gypsy. Khan has brought his creation here and wowed everyone last year. Now Vikram has to do the same. Time to shake off the sands of Palar!

Don't be disappointed Saar...you have a chance to enlighten us all this year by bringing your creation here. You'll have an easier time than the guys in the CJs and MM5X0s so take the decision and drive down.

Yes everything is plug and play more or less...especially when I can call you and play "who is the better Houdini"
