Re: Aavalaconda Annual OTR Recce report Jan 17th

Star. IMO the 1 liter Gypsy has a better crawl ratio than a Gypsy KING. I am sure, it can do the trail..

Come on Sidd

@Star_Aqua

I also think the trail should be tested with vehicles that aren't heavily modified to see if it is traversable. Unlike an OTR with a small group where we can spend a lot of time with an obstacle, when there are 40 other vehicles with many waiting behind the bottleneck things can get pretty frustrating.

Guru, i am inline with you. i am here providing my feedback on the terrain and i am not the one who can decide the trail for this event. The decision makers will definitely think about such issues and will probably come up with the alternatives or what can be done to avoid such issues.

You got a point, i think we should try that climb with NDMS. Maybe airing down would help. Only issue is margin of error is low at that point, hopefully it will clear off once few vehicle pass the stretch.

I am not sure about your middle stump. i think your 7 inch NDMS may succeed if you reduce the pressure and follow the instructions carefully

Re: Aavalaconda Annual OTR Recce report Jan 17th

To all the participants,

Let me add my comments (Might be repetitive):

1. The stretch is definitely challenging but doable with all category of vehicles.

2. Its a 100% crawl stretch. Got to be really low on the paddle.

3. Vehicles with lockers and crawl gears will have the best advantage.

4. MT / AT with low pressure is advisable. With NDMS it will be really challenging specially on those heavy boulders.

5. Open top vehicles will be very unsafe, due to heavy bushes and thorn on the way.

6. Sump / Dif guard will be a saviour through out the trail.

As per my drive, there are four major obstacles:

1. Spiedy spot:
It’s a diagonal incline with ruts. Vehicles with LSD/Lockers and Crawl gear can tap the peddle and climb up. Stock and 1Lt Gypsies got to floor little heavy to come up with momentum, as the surface is slippery due lose mud. If the throttle input is heavy, will have high chance of toppling.

2. Tricky Decline:
We have three exit on this, the middle one is the most challenging one, as we could bust the oil sump and if not handled the vehicle is proper angle, can get toppled.

3. Diagonal Incline with rut & boulders at the start and end.
If the vehicle is stuck in any of these rut, my advice please don't push further, as it is impossible to get it out. Only option is to winch.

4. V shaped decline & incline:
This will be cake walk for CJ3B's and overhang cut Gypsies.
We cannot avoid the overhang to get hit while coming down.
Two options to come out, Rock the vehicle and push hard on the peddle or winch.

Need to carry mini: 4lts of water per person.

Good Luck Guys See you on the trail.
