Hi Doc. Jones,

I have nothing against the NISSAN SD25, but what advantages does it offer over the XD3P?

i) It is not a straight fit to any M&M 4WD Gear Box

ii) Though its is 2500cc it is 60-80Kgs heavier than the XD3P, just the the MDI3200TC.

iii) an MDI3200TC is a more viable option, keeping the above two in mind.

Regards,

Arka

Seems very different from the sd25! The intake is different, the exhaust is different, the thermostat housing, water pump are different, heck, even the diesel injection pump is rotary compared to the inline SD25!
I don't know about the SD25, but this engine is very heavy and nowhere as light as the XD3P!

Hi Nikhil,

IIRC that is MDI3200TC in a CRDe avatar.

Used in the M&M Genio Pick-Up Truck.

Arka

Re: PICS : Help with identifying this Mahindra engine

Arka, AAAAaaahhhh!!! I want a light engine like the XD3P but with much more power, thats all Iam asking. Iam not satisfied with my XD3P's power { Mine is in top condition } cause Iam much used to it and Iam greedy, just that, I want a change. I don't mind a petrol engine too. The MDI 3200 TC, for me is slightly in the heavier side and doesn't rev much, kind of a low RPM high Torque engine. Common, help me out buddy.

Dr.Jones

Doc - Options available to you AND ME!!

1. Eicher Canter Mitsubishi 4D31 - DOHC - 90HP @ 3200 RPM
2. Toyota 14BT - 90HP @ 3400 RPM
3. Toyota 3CT - 99HP @ 4200 RPM
4. Mahindra NEF 2.49 PUSHROD CRDe - 105 @ 4500 RPM

I'm on the lookout for an engine to which I can add AC without issues. Better NVH and sound levels are important too and I tend to lean towards a DOHC.

What do you guys think of the Tavera DI turbo Engine ? 19Kgm and 80 odd BHP?

Oops - EDIT - did i read Petrol engine ?

1. SKODA 1.8 TSI - 160 BHP
2. HONDA 3.0 V6 - 240 BHP

Re: PICS : Help with identifying this Mahindra engine

Vikram, can you just mention which vehicle these engines come in, the 14BT and 3CT ? And it would be great if you can mention the weights of these engine if possible. Where the hell will find and mate the skoda and honda with my KMT 90? Its easier for me to mate Nicole Kidman than this ;-)

Headers - The 14B engine develops 98 bhp (as per some sites) and 114 bhp as per others. The 14B Turbo engine touches around 140 bhp.

Fitting an AC into the engine bay will be a tight squeeze but its possible. The vibrations are much lesser on the 14B compared to the XDP4.90. Noise is pretty high but my jeep has done only 200 kms since the transplant so should settle down once the fine tuning is done (tappets et al)

Also, I drove a 550 with a Tavera engine and gearbox recently. It was extremely smooth and works well. Only issue was that it was a 2wd and am not sure if 4wd is possible.

Cheers,
Adi

Hi Doc.Jones,

In the Light weight and rev-friendly dept not many can beat the XD3P.

i) Some options, do a Soft-Turbo to the XD3P.

ii) Isn't it easier to change your driving style

iii) Lockers/Shockers/Improve Steering to harness the maximum out of the XD3P!!!!

Petrol Engines Inline 4/6 RWD

1) Scorpio Petrol (1.9L)

2) Safari Petrol (2.1L)

3) Isuzu Petrol Engine & Gearbox.

3) Some BMW/Mercedes Petrol I6 engines are available in Chennai, but mating then to the KMT-90?????

Even if you go in for a Divorced T-Case there isn't enough room in a SWB.

AFAIK the Tavera Engine weighs close to 300Kgs.

@ Vikram, please tell the weight of the respective engines.

Regards,

Arka

Arka,

Can you please explain on this ? How and which Vehicle components can we use for this ? Is it help to improve the torque of the engine ? Or how can I improve the torque of XD3P Engine ?

Re: PICS : Help with identifying this Mahindra engine

There was a blue 550 that came for EXAMM/AKC from Hyderabad which was running a turbo setup on the XD3P. IIRC, it was the scorpio turbo and intercooler. Still I'd believe this may not contribute much to low-end torque. But the owner was very happy with it and so he should be able to tell more. I think it was a Mr. Khan, Fazal bhai would know better.

Blue 550 with turbo is owned by Nawab Salik Khan of our team. It has a bolero turbo , low end is not changed from the stock engine but topend power is very good. I guess its time people realize the over rated XD3P is just an average engine .
