It doesn't even look to be a 4x4. It's all being and that too, to a select few only.

You need to install adapter plate between the engine & gearbox.

The Baleno Engine is transversely mounted power-train. It will not fit directly. You can use the engine and use any longitudely mounted gearbox to mate it to. You cannot use a Baleno gearbox as it is front wheel drive.

If you really want to do it, you can get a Baleno engine, a Gypsy 5 + 1 GB, and TC and fit it. The engine will fit.

Dhanus, Will the gypsy 5+1 and TC fit inside a SWB CJ3B? Has anyone done it?

I have a Pugeot XD4.9P with KMT 90 Tcase in my cj500dp. If I want to replace the engine but retain the existing 4X4 and the transfer case, what engine options do I have?

Please consider the new MDi turbo (non CRD). The engine is economical and will remain trouble-free for long!
