Hyderabad Hard Top (Thar)

Dear Friends,

Extensive R&D, redesigning, scraps and now the final molds are done for the first prototype to be fitted on the Thar this weekend.

Constructed in high grade first quality resin, excellent fit and finish. Price (to be resealed soon) versus product, would make you go for it.

Features:

Three removable
(two front and one rear) top panels, rubber sealed against weather and rain.

Concealed drain pipes between outer and inner layer.

Top constructed in two layers which are filled with polyurethane foam to keep weather elements and sound out.

Inner and outer layer highly reinforced for structural stability with integrated ribs.

Comes in 9 pieces which can be easily bolted on.

For ease of shipment all 9 panels fit in a 6X4 box or in the rear cabin of the Thar.

Once the 9 panels are assembled the top turns to a two piece one which can be removed or fitted back easily by anybody.

All bolts are concealed between the two layers.

No paint required as the outer resin is matte black and the inner is light grey colored.

Two, fixed side glasses stuck on with out beading.

Rear lift type door with glass and hydraulic balancers
(shocks).

The actual Hyderabad Hard Top manufactured by Prabhu of New Mars will be on show soon, meanwhile a sneak preview here.

Regards,

Arun,

Yes, I remember things had started with the top(s) even before the launch of the Thar. Infact, I had mentioned on this forum that a HT from Hyderabad is to unfold.

It is way behind schedule but it is worth the effort that went in for the final quality achieved.

Also, I would like to mention that, when the top once bolted together (as in pic.) can be fastened by clamps to the body of the Thar.
Regards,

The final one, panels attached.

Re: Hyderabad Hard Top (Thar)

Thanks for the reply. Would look forward to it finally fitted on the THAR, that would tell me if I like it & if it justifies the price tag - what ever it may be.

Cheers

Re: Hyderabad Hard Top (Thar)

That seems like a good looking hard top taking shape. I also like the fact that you have kept the rear door vertically straight and not slanting. Also I hope the panels are made of such high quality that the indian weather which is lots of rain and high temperatures in the sun don't deform it. It would be a disaster to have the removable panels deform.

If everything has been taken into account then this should be a good hard top. Provided it is priced well.

Re: Hyderabad Hard Top (Thar)

Overall a very good design. I only wish there was a version without all the sun-roof openings as over time, these joints will may start leaking. Also the NVH would have been better with less openings. It would also have been cheaper to produce.

Overall, I feel this is one of the best options on the market today. Just wish price is reasonable.

Re: Hyderabad Hard Top (Thar)

Hi Fazal saab,

Nice to know there is one more hardtop under R/D. I hope it will looks nice and fit well.

Just one question though, what about the B-Pillar? Can we fit it without B-pillar? or it will remain as usual?

Thanks,
Sadiq

If your asking whether the B-pillar is covered by the HT, no its not . One can also retain the front HT and do away with the rear when required.

Re: Hyderabad Hard Top (Thar)

Fazal Saab,

Thanks for the thread. I had seen the HT sometime back during its initial evolution days. It did look good. Look forward to the final finished product atop a THAR soon.

Cheers

P.S: What will be the upholstery/lining inside.

Re: Hyderabad Hard Top (Thar)

If everything goes as per plan, there WON'T be any lining from what I know. The quality and finish of the HT will not require a "cover up" . At the most .....it'll be a paint job .

The final design brief shall be given by Fazal Sahib , but from what i have witnessed - Prabhu seems to be taking all kinds of design principles and ensuring that they are implemented to the "T".

I must say i was very impressed with the sun-roof openings and its design. There is hardly any scope for water to seep in and/or noise to filter through too , this is in addition to rubber beading that is going to be provided. The picture below shows what I've observed.

Looks very nice.

Should the rake of the C pillar be little more slanted so that it is parallel to the window and the B pillar. See the red line in the attached pic.
