This kind of knowledge can fade away if not used regularly. I used to teach map reading as part of NCC syllabus in 1985-86. If I didn't have a photograph of that, I wouldn't have remembered, then I recalled learning it well so that I take the class. Now when I look at the image on the board, I can't make out anything. May be Tejas can figure it out, I don't have a clue.

PS: That is a Lekhak notebook on the desk. Wonder how many remember that.

Hi Sharath,

That looks like you are explaining Grid Reference for the Huts and the Trees on the Map.

I think the tree will be referred as 962738 (Eastings before Northings) British System. IIRC

Another way of giving grid reference for the same tree 963738 (Eastings before Northings) American System IIRC

The numbers 1-10 divide the grid into 100mts segments.

The scale I'm guessing maybe 1:100,000.

Regards,

Arka

Great job doc, your perserverance and interest in 4WD has got you another feather in your cap! As someone else posted, I don't recollect ever studying so hard even for the 10-12th final exams. Engineering, well now, thats a different story .

Congrats again doc! The first in Asia as well.

The report for the above course is out on the above mentioned thread.

During the course, some participants also wanted to briefly understand the hi lift jack and the same was demonstrated to them.

Here's a video demonstrating the dangers of not using the hi lift jack properly. We taped a coconut and demonstrated the damage the handle recoil would cause if you let go off the handle and your head came in the middle.

Be safe out there.

*Please do not try to replicate this experiment*

Hi Tejas, we haven't corresponded before, but I have appreciated many of your posts on the Team-BHP forum over the years. After having spent six years in the US, I came back to Mumbai last week, and was looking forward to enrolling in an off-road training course with India's (Asia's?) only I4WDTA certified trainer

Unfortunately, the Facebook link you posted appears to be a dead one (I got a message saying "This content is currently unavailable"), and I don't see any options to enrol for courses on offroadjunkie.com. Am I missing something?

Hey, that course got done 10 days ago. Hence the event page was taken down. Will announce the next one soon.

The website is undergoing a major upgrade and the new one should be up very soon.

Thanks for the support
