My Bolero Di LX 4wd with manual shift came with fixed flanges. I am not sure if the XDP 4wd Boleros with electronic shift also came with fixed flanges or not.
TBHPian himadrimondal has a Thar CRDe with fixed flanges and he has driven extensively without any issues till date.

Re: Thar CRDe: Switch to Manual Locking Hubs

Time to update the thread.
Ever since i came back from leh on 10th October, the Vibrations due to fixed flanges became too prominent. Recently i took a friend's thar with Auto locking hubs for a 400kms run. On the highway it was really smooth and vibe free as compared to mine. However due to Snow on road we had to switch back and forth between 2H and 4H, and it was a pain to stop and reverse the vehicle to release the hubs else they would start whining.

As for me, i plan to switch to Manual Hubs soon and keep fixed flanges as back up, just in case if i ever need them again.

Yup! Same problem for me this year. Also, that accursed CRMV dictate that Mahindra has programmed into their chips, the engine does not kick down in RPM immediately when you take your foot off the accelerator, say in 2nd or 3rd gear. It's definitely an incredibly dangerous little government add on to be aware of particularly on a snowy, icy mountain road. It can put you into a skid if your attention is on something else. Ah well, so much for my rant. "Latin Angels" is on the TV. Time for some intellectual stimulation and thought provoking discourse.

Since you are from Dharamshala, and if you do not intend to run your thar in plains for long duration,
i believe fixed flanges might be better for you.

Re: Thar CRDe: Switch to Manual Locking Hubs

Has anyone shifted from Auto Locking Hubs to either (1) Manual Locking Hubs or (2) Fixed Flanges successfully?

In my THAR, I am facing issues with Auto Locking Hubs. And Mahindra ASC knows only to replace.

Really looking for good trouble free solution.

As mentioned by Mr. Dhabhar, can anyone guide me to shift.

A bhpian i know has shifted to Manual locking hubs from auto locking after 2 of them failed within 10K kms.
I have one of the thar's that came with fixed flanges. No problems faced apart from little vibes between 80-90km/hr.

Peformance on Highway in 2H mode should be similar to what it was with Autolocking hubs.
Also the guy has MT tyres so it hardly makes a difference.

Re: Thar CRDe: Switch to Manual Locking Hubs

Today fitted manual hubs on Thar. Can do myself. Yet to test drive. But it appears no nonsense thing.
Lets hope for good performance too.

Brand and price?
Do update on the performance and Engaging and disengaging process.
Btw, you switched from auto locking hubs or fixed flanges?

Lambda, 4200+taxes
I switched over from Auto locking hubs.
Engaging disengaging is easy but you need to step out of vehicle. Performance as I said earlier will update periodically.

Re: Thar CRDe: Switch to Manual Locking Hubs

2 more cases of Auto locking Hubs failing/creating problems in my friend circle.
One thar is like 10 months old and the other not even 10 days old

I am glad i have fixed flanges; living with vibrations is certainly easier than 4WD not engaging in the middle of no where.

Haven't they stopped putting auto lock with Ver 2 Thar onwards? I thought all of them came with fixed assembly?
