re: The Offroad Rims & Tyres Thread

Hi All,

I am asking a repetitive question here, I have 8J rims, can I go for YOKOHAMA GEOLANDERS ATS 235/75R15 on them ? any other alternatives or brands you suggest, I don't want to go for a wider tire, please suggest.

re: The Offroad Rims & Tyres Thread

Hello everyone,

I have three questions to the Jeep Gurus.

1. What is the Mahindra jeep stock wheel Disk width?
2. Can a 7.50-16 NDMS be fitted on a Stock 16 inch disk?
3. What would be the ideal price range of used army rims (set of 5)

Thanks & Regards,

Sudhir.

Chanu,
I believe ideal size is around the range of 6.5-7.5 as OEM rims are also in that range. a 8J may still be fine though. I have the same brand/size combo on my Safari for about 54,000 kms now. Not a single puncture so far and still have tread to last a while.

depends on ply rating of the tyre , anything above 12 ply gets very hard to put on & if its 16 ply then forget it . I also think that using 7.50 tyre on a smaller than 5.5 disc wont be good .

Ideally 1200 to 1700 a piece , but depends on the seller & buyer

Bhai,

Could be. I was talking about the old 540 16" rims. They were 4.5x16. Had them on my Jeep when I bought it.

Cheers,
Adi

Yes you are right abt the old type 16" discs , they were on the Commander also . Right now my trailer has those . Even old army jeeps ( cj type ) had those . But the current ones are quite different .

yep confusion cleared thanks

Hi Sudharshan,

The above points that you have made are very valid. I just could not think of that. Anyways, I am going to put the tyres of 8 ply rate.
Thank you so much for educating me on this.

Regards,

Sudhir.

No SUV tyre for new gen compact SUV

India has recently seen launch of mini SUVs in the market and few are on the anvil. Going by the response these mini SUVs have captured, it can be easily persumed that it will be one of the key segment in the coming times. But one thing that really bothers me is the lack of SUV tread tyres for the sizes of these vehicles. Apart from few choices from Bridgestone, majority of tyre manufacturers in India offer SUV tread choices from 215/75-15 onwards. With todays light weight SUVs, touring tyres hampers the vehicles performance on difficult tarmacs, and lugging a full time 4x4 on board is not a priority for many. SUV broad block tyre will provide necessary traction on loose surface. I am not saying that broad block tyres are replacement for 4wd systems, but imo will suffice the requirement for everyday joe on his trip to leh or spiti. Indian tyre manufacturers should provide SUV tyre for the size of ecosport and quanto with the changing times I think. What say guys.

Where can I find these rims?

these are for a friend who owns an Endeavour.

It has not become his second car, and he is looking it making it as off road capable as possible.

He is specific about wanting these rims, and needs help procuring them.

If anyone here has any leads on where we can buy them, India or abroad, we would appreciate the help.

That design of alloys is available with hijoin, luxotek, HR and a few other brands.Any alloy dealer should be able to source it for you and the price is about 7k onwards depending on 15 or 16 inchers.

No clue about chennai man, maybe you can PM one of the members and check with them. Else make a trip to Bangalore and I can guide you. Check fellow member karizma9292's post here (Team-BHP's first Mahindra Scorpio LX 4WD), pretty much similar to the one's you have posted. These alloys are famous with the gypsy's and in case of the endy you will need 16 inchers.

Re: Where can I find these rims?

Look up a Page called "4x4 Tyres and Alloys" on Facebook. There are some dealers there, who have sold lots of these Rims. You should easily be able to find these rims there.

However, whilst they do look nice, they have become a bit too common nowadays.

Thars are replacing tractors in Punjab for work in the fields!

And that's a brand new Thar with a temporary registration number in Ludhiana!
