Tejas, this is a 4-year-old post. Have you had any experience with them since?

I’m still using straps from them and with tons of recoveries done. No issues as of yet.

Re: Places to buy stuff for Off-Roading/4x4 in India

Haathi tow straps are the best Indian brand, quality and price wise.
The lifting straps made of HDPE, like the ones bought by nlvdvr are more widely available in industrial tool shops. They are cheaper, but have shorter storage life -- okay if you use frequently.

D shackles (also called bow shackles) are about 500/- per piece. Buying them at 100/- per is a fantastic deal !

Just a quick note: haathi is importing belts from china and just branding them under their own name.

Secondly, D shackles are NOT also called Bow shackles. Both are different.

Have a look here at this educational video:

Re: Places to buy stuff for Off-Roading/4x4 in India

Thanks Tejas for the info on Haathi -- everything these days are made in China.
That is why I called it an Indian brand -- did not say that it is 'made in India'.

I was also aware of the difference between "D" and bow shackles, but decided to ignore it for general use. The former are more easily available and I have been using, or seeing them being used, for more than 50 years. The latter are a more recent variation, and are certainly convenient for straps. But when straps were not in use -- only wire rope slings -- "D"s were the only attachment choices.

That is wrong info.

D shackles severely kink straps and ruin them.

I remember buying my first set of bow shackles in 1998.

Also who uses wire rope as a tow option nowadays? I remember sourcing the same around 2006 and soon shifted to lifting hoists in 2008.

Re: Places to buy stuff for Off-Roading/4x4 in India

Can someone share good options/link to purchase recovery strap? I see bunch of them on Amazon but not sure which one would fit my need

Requirements:
- FWD car. Gross Weight ~2100Kg.
- Only to pull car out of tricky situations (loose mud/slush) if front tyres are stuck

Again, not into off roading but just for that peace of mind when travelling during monsoon

Hi Friends. I have a Gypsy King. Recently bought from Army auction. What would be a suitable Winch that can fit a Gypsy King? Any suggestions please. Thanks.

Lots of factors in choosing a winch. Recreational, competitive, amount of usage, terrain where it will be used for, etc.

But, don't overkill on capacity. 8000lbs should be good for you

And more importantly, get educated on proper winch usage. Best of winches have failed due to improper usage and scores of people have been injured.
