I told Arun-Lambda that I felt the price was on the higher side and I have seen lot of Winches online, that, with landing costs would not exceed 45K (the same 9Ton capacity)... He said the base lining done by their marketing team came up with a average price of 1L for any 'proper' winch landing into India. I found that very incorrect and offered to send him lot of links from US which will prove you can get a entry level warn for $600 and with may be $200 shipping/excise you can get a 9T'er for <40K...

Lambda - please recalculate the pricing..!!

Hey GS,
Any jerry can you buy would leak.
So, why don't you just buy 2X20 litre bisleri water cans.
Use up the water and then you can use the cans to store fuel.
They don't leak water but i do not know about petrol. You could use a thin plastic at the neck to ensure no leakage.
Cheers,
Deepak

Go to Mohammed Ali Road, Chemical Market. You'll get black coloured cans.

Hello All , Specially Pune Guys.

Recently I bought a polyester webbing sling ,as a tree strap for winching . I knew this dealer for many years but havent dealt with them .

The dealers Name is Safe Lifters . Ph. No. is 020 24013783/84/85/86.

I think they are Industrial suppliers & have seen wide range of goods there .

Seen many kind of wire rope , polyester slings, D shackels etc .

If one goes & sees everything they have I think most of our pulling needs will be met .

I had bought material like D shackles ,slings in the past from the 'Juna Bazar ' because of budget constraints, It workes well but I will prefer new material if I have enough budget .

yours Sudarshan

Hi GS,

I think you need this for your trip to Ladakh, the best idea will be to buy it from Mayapuri Delhi as that would be on your way or else ask someone to buy it and keep it ready for you. You will get good quality Army jerry cans from their.

All the best for your journey and wish you a safe one.

If it is for the Ladakh trip, buy them there itself. For about 150 bucks, you can get good ones in the various tented dhabas which sell fuel.
Have a great trip .

Long back someone mentioned that there is a shop in mayapuri dealing with brand new Chinese winches. The quote was something around 16k-17k IIRC. Though i cant remember the load rating.

Long back I think Dec 2008 I saw some chinese winches in Mayapuri going from 15-18k or something in the range. If you are familiar with Mayapuri call up Tau Motors (the guy who sell engines and stuff). He had them at that time. I might be going there today towards the evening, will try to get his number and sms/ email you the same. Pl PM me your details.
I think that I had posted pictures on some thread in Dec 2008 or Jan 2009. Maybe my MM550 rebuild thread but I am not sure
Cheers
