Given the increased interest in OTR/Off-Roading and 4x4 vehicles, it would be great if we have a compilation of places 'in India' from where one can buy stuff for off-roading/4x4.

Question: Should we add/avoid places for tinkering/painting/engine overhaul garages. I think enough information is available on those in other threads.

Most of the guys I know just buy stuff from abroad or on ebay. I remember reading about a 4x4 Offroad services in Bangalore. They carried everything from winches to snorkels and airlockers to special lights.

GTO, that's the same place I mentioned as #1 above -- 'Adventure Zone'. They really have good stuff, albeit on the pricier side.

What a predicament! When I used to live in Bangalore, I couldn't get my hands on the stuff. Now that I'm in Delhi and want such stuff (winch and tow rope for instance), I don't know where to get it.

It might be quite a pain transporting heavy stuff from Bangalore, unless I drive down again (haven't done that for close to 10 years now).

In Delhi, I've checked out most of the accessories places, but most of the guys stock "cosmetic" stuff only. Winches, locking differentials - haven't come across any.

Today, I had been to an ATV dealership called "Tranquil Motors Pvt Ltd". They deal in Polaris ATVs and had a very nice showroom setup (I will be starting a new thread for ATVs with pictures). They also mentioned that they dealt with some of the Offroading accessories. Details are as below:

Call up Ozone and ask them. They for sure would be able to help you out with transportation. Just the transportation should not be an issue.

He has some good WARN winches on which he is willing to give some handsome discounts. 20K discount on a winch costing 1.06L.

Skid plates, sump guards, fuel tank guard, diff guard, etc would need to be custom fabricated and then installed.

You would need to get hold of a good tinkerer/mechanic and also some hardware guy to get the metal/aluminum sheets & bolts etc for fabrication

I went to Lamda Components today to purchase a pair of free wheeling hubs for my jeep since they were not in stock anywhere in the city.The price difference was almost over 1000 rs per pair.

One good news is that Mr Arun of Lamda told me that they had started manufacturing 5 ton capacity hydraulic winches priced at around 45000 rs. They are also coming out with electric winches at around 5-10k extra but Mr Arun was not in a position to commit a fixed price for the same.I guess those looking out for electric winches could wait some more time till lamda come out with their own.Iam assuming saving would be atleast 25-30k compared to the imported ones being sold at 1lakh.

Now that you are scheduled to go to B'lore you can have your heart's fill. Lemme know too what all are available - I would be inetersted in a winch, tow rope and a snorkel.
