There is no use of carrying that much of extra iron on your MM550 machine which has just 76 BHP motor. If you are dreaming about having some crazy off roading things, MM550 is not going to satisfy you.

For MM550, I suggest maximum you can go for a full roll over cage (rally styled with a cross at the piller B).

Hi Parm,

Have to add some tarpoline also over that frame! Then the word mobile tent is more suitable than a roll-cage

Nice pics Parm. Though here, very few people go for the full roll cage (Red MM's 550 has one) but thats probably advisable to do.

COMPLETED!! Working on a 540

Dear Jeepers and friends,
This thread is a continuation to the previous thread “Working on a 540
Related link: http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/4x4-of...ing-540-a.html
Posting the evolution pictures was needlessly slow as this project took much longer than expected. In brief, my forever-young (mid 50's.) cousin wanted a 4X4 for his trips in the Masinagudi jungle located between Ooty and Bandipur, where he has a resort. As it is located off road and in the Jungle he felt the need and pangs to own one such vehicle, which should be 4X4, high rider, lights at the rear and front, completely - part convertible, comfy as a car etc. but he liked the Bolero Di which the vehicle came with as it is fuel efficient. (Point).
The objective was not hard to meet as I had envisioned what the end result should be. Went ahead as follows: Converted a regular to 4X4, Apollo Bullet tyres and army rims, customized leaf springs, got the light bars fabricated, fenders fabricated, rollover bar, 3 pair Hella’s, sectional top designed to come off in 5 stages: 1. Entire rear half comes off 2. Only rear sides come off 3. Rear sides and tailgate end come off 4. Only tailgate end lifts up 5. Front top comes off. Got bucket seats for the front and fabricated a front facing rear seat etc.
The ride is extraordinarily soft with the custom leaf springs and a dream for off roader’s and Jungle ghooming guys, steering is extremely smooth even with 7.50-16’s.
New engine and gearbox foundations eliminated the excessive vibrations of a Di, 10MM foam under the front hood and between the engine and front inside wall and entire flooring took care of the required noise reduction to the max possible. Ride quality is great, tested the 4 wheel, and the flamboyant colour (Dupont TNT orange) is to suit my cousins nature. Why is it called 2K when it should be known as 24K?…quality too good. At this point I am posting the before and after pics. But will add on more of interiors and customised leaf springs etc.very soon. The Mahindra personality is what I wanted to maintain till the last with very few personal changes from the stock Jeep.
Thanks
