Gypsy on Steroids: Maxxis Trepador M8060 MT. Update Now on Yoko Geolander MT!

After the lockers, & rock-crawler t-case gearset jobs, the existing tyres were a huge let down to the capabilities of my Gypsy. The MRF Zigma GP tyres were no match for the increased off-road capabilities of the Gypsy.

Hence there was no way out for me but to upgrade the tyres to proper mud terrain tyres. After much looking around & research, I settled on the Maxxis Trepador m8060 tyres in 235/75/15 size.

After nearly 2 weeks of the tyres lying in my room, I got the tyres installed today on my Gypsy.

These are proper mud terrain tyres and are supposed to be great in mud, rocks & trails. These are directional, self cleaning pattern tyres.

I will keep on updating this thread with the performance of these tyres -- both on-road/off-road

Must say that the Gypsy looks mean with these tyres now -- no nonsense mean off-road machine.

Congratulations pal, what's with the teaser pic of the tires, where's the pic of the gypsy with the tires shod on them. We don't wanna see them stocked in your room, albeit on the gypsy would make for eye candy. So get off and click some pics rite away.

Also how much did each set you back by?

Sorry for the urge to see pics,Khan saab!
Just wondering, how old is the Gypsy? Any body work planned on it? Did notice some rust near the door( or is it just dust/dirt?).

The Gypsy is of 2002 vintage sir. No body work planned. Do you want to suggest something -- feel free

There is no rust -- just gritty mud from various OTR jaunts.

Cheers,

Very nice! The Gypsy must be a delight to go Off-roading. My buddy's uncle used to be an avid off-roader back in the days. Some area close to Yercaud used to be his play-area,with some tricky terrain to deal with.

I have zero knowledge about 4x4.
Are the wheel rims special for 4x4 ? If not, a nice set of alloys would be good for new tyres. I assume they are tubeless.

Wow, these tyres really suit the Gypsy.
Good that you choose taller profile.
How much damage to the wallet do these inflict?

Your earlier tyres seem to be MRF's.
New set will provide exceptional offroad capabilities.

Current look is Rough !

Nice tires by the way. Now Engine needs some Steroid.

OT: By the way Steroid is one Distinguished Bhpian member. So your title seems to LOL. Gypsy on Steroid...
