It was great talking to you.

It feels great seeing a long time dream coming true in front of your eyes.

Want to join but buddy, we mortals dont have many choices in life! Do let me know if I can be of any help.

Best of luck for the endeavour.

i met ub sir yesterday, went to gurgaon in his jeep,8181, (if u see his orkut a/c you will see pix of it), without the hood, me and my wife had a nice chilly drive , spoke to him at length of our jeep.
some points which were in my mind, which i want suggestions and ideas on from everyone.

1. roll cage ...yes or no? yes for safety , no for it destroys the character of an open jeep. also any standard designs which are used, any one aware of? as in with scientifically tested and designed for safety .

2. where all can one have some safe storage space in a jeep? as i plan a long trip so need a place to lock in my camera and other valuables? ideas please for a cj 3a

3. normal jeep seats of car type bucket seats? keeping in mind that they would be exposed to the elements more often than not .

4. which tyres to put , for both on and off road the same set should work. ub sir suggests mrf big rover, i feel they are too unable for either role

5. ventilation window frame of the fixed variety

6. anyother usefull suggestion for practical use and comfort (eeeeks...in a jeep.....i gotta be kidding)

responses awaited

Nice to hear that the golden 8181 is running again, thats an amazing 440!
Just to share some ideas:
1. Roll cage- yes, since you are planning for a long trip and there is not much of safety provision in jeeps, its better to go for a basic yet strong roll cage set-up.
2. There is an amazing gypsy (belongs to gotzuk here) which has a lockable rear portion. You can try out something similar.
3. Bucket seats for the comfort. You can always retain the original seats which can be mounted back after you complete the trip.
4. A difficult question for many of us people who have been searching for the same. Check out the offroad rim/tyre thread, you will get lots of inputs. Preferably some good A/T tyres will do.

If possible get fibre doors for the front and get a nice full soft-top. It will give some protection.
You will get more inputs from the experts.
-regards,

In Picasa there is an option to export pics.
When you open this option, you can set the pixel size of the pics and after exported the size is considerably reduced
Check this out

Open the picture in paint. Press Ctrl W and reduce the percentage to 60-70% (or less) and save. Check the size, if its still more, repeat the above accordingly.

Looks neat doc! Is that the diesel motor you are installing? It was a 3200 MDI I think you had said? Are these recent pics?

The works seems to be coming along nicely.

Did you visit UBS sir or were the pics sent to you by someone?
