Definitely longer than the class. That's what I was thinking as well. The dimensions are about the same as my CJ500. I assumed that CJ/CL340 and classic had the same wheelbase.

It looks longer because of the missing windshield and rollbar?

Dear all - Arka is correct. It is a red coloured CJ340DP or it can be a CL340DP (the J was changed to L for non-technical reasons, the vehicle is the same). The small things to look for are, for example the increase in height of the spare wheel centre line for which the spare wheel mounting bracket was changed and reinforced. This vehicle is an 80" wheelbase / 48" wheel track / XDP4.90 / KMT90 / T18 / 5.38:1 semifloating axle vehicle. This is the real Jeep. It will go anywhere. I sold mine years back and I am still repenting. I hope the 4 wheel drive is working. It must be having double lever transfer case. I hope the original rollover bar and original front facing rear seat are there. The cushions of the front seats were derived out of the 118NE (the vendor was the same and I was there in both companies, I have only done all this). Although there is no backrest angle adjustment, the lumbar support of the seats is extremely comfortable provided you position it properly. Requesting Arush please please please DO NOT dilute the specifications in any way. I have seen good vehicles go to pieces due to lack of guidance. Please post all detailed photographs. I will guide you in totality.

Best regards,

Behram Dhabhar

Did the SWB jeeps come with 8/43(5.375:1) ratios with the Peugeot and KMT90 ?

Dear Bikram - CJ/CL340s came with 5.38 (43/8), CL340 classic came with 4.88 (44/9).

Dear all - please see the comprehensive difference in thr body shell of the CL340 where the wheel arch was moved into the well area to allow the front seats to silde backwards to meet EEC requirements, commonized across the model.

Best regards,

Behram Dhabhar

Where is that LASIK surgery Thread? I need some corrections in my vision.

Sorry Arush for confusing you. Looked like a longer wheelbase then the CJ/CL 340 in the pictures.

CJ's

No need for LASIK, just get into Off-Roading and you will have your CJ's sorted out, you will be spending a lot of time in the garage.

See Sabreesh's Thread on how a stripped out CJ500D looks like.

Regards,

Arka

Now that gurus have confirmed the model, let me put a pic from my thread for everyone's sake

Here is the CJ/CL 340

MM340 Upgrades-image_511.jpg

and here is the CJ500D, notice the marked portions on both the JEEPs, the one on CJ500D is longer due to the increased wheelbase.

MODS: PLEASE DELETE THE ABOVE POST.
@Arush- As you said that its for a teenager and its got to be a looker than a thorough off-roader but do they wish to retain the original XDP4.90 engine or a change? The Bolero's Unit would be a good upgrade(XD3P)2.5L or the CRDe unit.
Also how do they want the final product to look like-original or like the Classic CL340 or to resemble the Ford GPWs? Most youngsters would prefer the raw look of these vehicle and others would prefer the Jeep Wrangler look but that would require more body modifications as its more suited to the MM550/540 platform.
This jeep IMO would look best built like the Classic CL340's with the Interiors and Roll Bars/Cage designed the same way and a nice set of alloys.
