Buy a 100$ GPS from Dealextreme and use that instead? It is windows CE 5.0 too, and already unlocked

Its not useful for off road. Specially if you using in in an open Jeep. Dust will kill it quickly.

Mobile is better for Off road (still a compromise). With 2700 MAH AA cells + cell charges that runs off AA cells. I used Nokia N82 for 7 - 8 hours continuously.

DX units have just 1 hour (max) of battery backup. Not suitable if you have to trek.

Would work fine if you are going to use it only inside car with charger.




For Off road+ trking, I don't think there is any alternative to Garmin handhelds.
