Jagat has obviously seen it considering he directed that OTR.:)

But SPOAing a CJ3x is practical only as a pure offroad I think, it can be a nightmare on regular roads.

I had seen this Jeep in a Garag in Mysore. It was there for quite a few months.

Reason: Engine transplant.

i guess the ride will be horrible if CJ is SPOA'ed .all the best

SPOA will always improve the ride.

Jagat : You will surely find the comments from this thread useful too. It's a long one, but worth the time spent screening.

Arka, will not very unsafe since the roll over angle will change drastically due to the short wheel base and short track both. What do you think??

By the way I always wanted to know the roll over angle for MM5x0 and CJ with the original set up. Do you have anything available in your shelf for this.

Anybody ever try to build a 4x4 tractor into a off roader jeep instead of the usual building of a jeep into a 4x4 tractor?

Looks like that red MM5?0 has a wider track, too, more than just wide tyres.

I don't want to go SPOA. I already live at 5500 feet. Another 3 inches puts me above the snow line.

The rear prop shaft angle is a problem as i am running a longer gear box.

The joint angle at the differential should be kept to a minimum.
Since you are running a longer gear box you could eliminate the universal joint at the transfer case and use a cv joint instead.
Tom Wood's Drive Shafts is one such vendor with cv kits having upto 42 degree angle of flex.
Have a look.

Cheers

Thanx gotzuk. Had a look at Tom woods drive shaft. Will try and make one.

Hi Arka,

For a layman like me going for SPOA setup on a vehicle means it will increase the overall height. Since I have no experience or knowledge about the effects of a SPOA job on a vehicle's ride and handling. Please elaborate what benefits can one expect from a SPOA setup. This information will be very educative and inspiring to upcoming Jeepers like me.

regards
