Arka,

As per our telephonic conversation the other day, you told me that there is a rubber bush below the lower part of the hinge which may be worn away.

I can't seem to find it, where should it have been? See attached pics:

Tejas,

It is this (arrow) which is actually a pvc sleeve between the metals, it is colored red, peel it off and you can see the black underneath.

You should have one at the top end and one at the bottom for metal to metal vibrations to dampen.

Oh cool .

Yea i would like get one made with the stock tail gate and the swing away behind it but then the Swing away would need to clamp onto the tail gate right? wont that cause vibrations?

What was the cost involved to get this fabricated.

What I had to my relative jeep,
Firstly I removed both the hinges got thicker bushes made in brass, behind the jeep body where hinges fixes, I fabricated 6mm thick and 2inches wide plate. This plate was welded to the body. Care to be taken to fill the gap with rubber sealant between plate & body avoiding rust. Next, near the locking side, at the bottom of door fix a wooden piece to the body.(width 2”,bredth 2”, length 5”) I prefered teak. This stopped sagging & rattling of the door.

Problem solved (KISS style)

Guys,

A rather simplistic solution worked for me. Rattling of the tailgate primarily happened due to the play/extra space in the small hole where the lock part fits in. Just added two thick rubber linings on both ends (towards tyre and towards lock) running vertically and it seems to have solved the problem pretty well. Not sure if the solution was going to be so simplistic but in the short term it does look like it.

Cheers,
Adi

How effective are the lever locks used on Rally Gypsies? Has anyone tried this option?
