A Zulu, superb job with the defender. Do keep us posted on the updates that you are planning for like the AC etc. once they are done, a few more snaps of the interiors would be nice. How about getting a second wheel on the bonnet? Yep the visibility suffers but I think this would go to a completely new level as far as looks would go. On second thoughts how does one open the bonnet with the tyre on it? :)
Do also share snaps of any expeditions that you do with the old man.
The stalling while climbing issue you have faced is quite unique considering all that you have already tried.

also post some high resolution picture as i am thinking to make a 3 door armada with similar side windows setup.

Exactly! It looks all fine from a look point of view, when you have the tyre on the bonnet, but try opening it and you know the truth. My Series I once stopped in the middle of the road, in between traffic, on a hot afternoon & I'd to open the bonnet to investigate. That's where i learnt the eternal lesson- that its a tough job opening it up, with a tyre on top.
Besides, I need to get some chequer plates on this vehicle- the bonnet top is one of the targeted areas. When / if I get that installed, then putting an extra tyre on the bonnet will be a possibility. I also have only 5 alloy wheels- so need to import another alloy wheel to use as the 6th tyre.
I appreciate all the comments that are flowing in- thanks for them! I will post more details perhaps next week- currently trying to fix the problem with the fuel pump.
The 90 project has still not started. I will get on with it, only after I completely get this 110 out of the garage. Will update everyone, once that takes off.

Hi Fellow BHPians,
Firstly, apologies for not being able to update the thread in the past month- have been busy working on some of the improvements in the Defender.
The last technical trouble that I reported in terms of the engine dying down on upward slopes was caused by a faulty Fuel Injection Pump- subsequently have got that fixed, plus have also put in an extra pump for good measure which can be switched on when needed. Some factors to aid comfort- ranging from a split airconditioning kit, rear camera, a double din music system / DVD player, as well as a Momo steering wheel have also made their way into the vehicle.
I have also put in a new clutch kit- which has made the reliability factor improve. Some improvements to the gearbox, which means shifting gears is no longer a struggle.
Towards the rear, a wiper motor has gone on up on the door. Plans are underway to make way for a swivel tyre holder which can also hold a couple of jerry cans. Plus, the chequer plate kits are still elusive. Also want to add more protection in terms of differential guard as well as fuel tank guard. Currently, some of these projects are with a fabricator.
Took my pride out for a spin today along with good friend Ajit... have shared a few pictures which I hope all of you will enjoy. Keep your comments coming in, as always. Helps keep our motivation stay up. Will update more, as I work through the next phase of the project...

Wonderful restoration Abhishek! Really liked the latest pics. Restoring a LR is my dream project too. Congrats on a neat Job. BTW, liked the placement of the spare wheel. Gives an SUV look. Can you please post some interior pics too?

Great effort on the restoration shows all the way.
Nice colour, finish. The luggage rack can take enormous quantity there and also can double up as a bed for two when camping.
The iconic spare wheel on the hood is a must, you can have two spares as one is already on the tailgate.
One last thing...the wheels and tyres just don't go with the rest of your magnificent build.

This is really brillantly restored and keeps getting better by the day. Would be really unmatched in it's segement offroad. And i guess very few will mess around near to it even in the city. It I guess is not really meant for the highways.

Fazal, I think most of the Defenders in the UK have the same sort of tyres and wheels. It make it look more of a daily drive than a off-roading machine.

Hi, thank you all as always for your inputs... Firstly on wheels, the alloys are original Land Rover, the problem alas is with tyre size- I only managed to get 235x70x16 for them. Land Rover recommends 235x85x16. This size is just not available anywhere in India. And importers are refusing to import a set due to import regulations introduced last year apparently which prohibits non Iso tyres from being brought in. I am still looking out for larger profile tyre for the vehicle.
Secondly, it does have underbelly protection- at least partially. Currently have a steering guard, need to add differential guards and fuel tank guards.
Over the last weekend also got a cheque plate kit added, will post pictures in a few days.
On highway driving, I did take it to 120km speed, chickenned out beyond that as didn't want to stretch it anymore. So though it doesn't zip, it isn't really slow either. It will do just fine, if one wanted to drive it around.

Actually the engine and gearbox are fabulous, guess that is what the usp of the vehicle is. 300tdi is one of the best engines lr has made. Needs little maintenance too.

Hi, made some more modifications last weekend, hence sharing some pics... got chequer plates put up so that the vehicle can get some protection during rough use.
Also, a few interior pictures, as requested... hope you enjoy it!
