This price list is from Siliguri, West Bengal. With the hills of darjeeling so close, I guess the dealer is hoping for a few 4x4 sumo bookings. The tag says "Sumo 4x4 Economy", so I am guessing it does not have P.S or A.C.

Anyone else got any news regarding this?

If any of you would like more information, then the land line number and mobile numbers are given on the first attachment.
Bajla has these on offers for Darjeeling and Sikkim customers. I think now Sikkim has its own sales outlet. Previously they used to buy from Siliguri only.

Yep .. the SUMO 4x4 is a common Army ambulance (small) and the Swaraj Mazda 4x4 is the big one.

Re: Tata Sumo four-wheel-drive

Saw this Tata Sumo 4x4 "On Test"near Pune few days back. First I thought it could be the 4x4 Tata is about to launch in economic segment, but after reading the thread came to know it is an old thing. The unusual thing about it was that it had IFS. Dont know if they are already giving Sumo with IFS or it is new.

The Sumo has had Front - Double wishbone type with coil springs & antiroll bar for a long time. Havent checked the differences with a 4x4 version, though.

Assuming that the 4x4 Sumo shares a similar setup with the 4x4 Safari, it should be a torsion beam setup and not the coil springs like the 2wd version.

I had quoted from the Tata Sumo web-site. Should have checked :(

My Sumo, and none that I have seen so far have coil springs. It does have a shock at the front. Rear is leaf springs. I have even explored the option of adding Coil springs at the back, but my SA adviced me not to.

I thought the Sumo/Safari/Sierra in 2wd came with coil-springs at the front. I think I remember seeing that myself but will check again. Its only the 4wd versions that come with the torsion beam setup at the front.

The rear in the Sumo was always leaf-springs and please don't attempt to change to coil-springs yourself. Too much hassle if at all you can find someone to do it for you in the first place!

If you want to check out the 4wd Tata setup look up this set of pics I uploaded for a fellow bhpian who was interested.

Are you sure, condor ? I have seen Sumo 4X2 always with IFS and coil-springs in the front. And Sumo 4X4 with IFS and torsion-beam up front.

Any pics? Maybe they have started giving Sumo 4X2 also with torsion beam up front ???

Re: Tata Sumo four-wheel-drive

the Sumo 4X4 was available to the civilian until the "Sumo Gold" was launched. you could order a Sumo 4X4.

Now-a-days Sumo is not available in 4X4 even on order.

It was already available for Military / Army and we can get one from Army diposals / auctions.
