Re: JEEPS of the Charminar offroad club

Interesting to note the 1st 2nd and 3rd gear is called low-inter-high, never seen this before. I got confused for a second that did the TC of the willys have a new 'mid' range

Re: JEEPS of the Charminar offroad club

Fantastic Jeeps, I simply loved the MB and the Cj has given me another project idea. I have a question, will this configuration of
Isuzu 4FG1 engine
Isuzu 5 speed tranny
7.00X16 6PLY NDMS TYRES
4.27 crown pinion and moves like a rocket work in a classic (it should) and in an MM550? My Cj is going to remain stock but maybe i can get another one with this config??

If you dont mid could you elaborate on the mods that have to be done/undertaken for this swap?

I cant get my eyes of the beauties!!

Nothing, you just need to own any offroad vehicle, preferably JEEP. I will update when all the formalities are ready.

v16, for a cj3b , you need to 1st get a 4FG1 engine and the trooper 5 speed 4wd tranny.

The engine gearbox are a direct match.
You have to fabricate custom engine and transmission mounts and move the gearbox cross member way back.
The rear diff position required with the isuzu tranny is center , so you have to get a center housing .

I have driven a lot of JEEPS with this engine gearbox combo

With the 4.27 ratio the JEEP is more drivable , you can move in 3rd from stand still.(CJ5,CJ3B AND CJ6 ,CJ3A)

With the 4.88 it is dangerous in bumper to bumper traffic as even when moving in 2nd gear the JEEP wheelspins and the power delivery is just too aggressive , twice the acceleration of the scorpio. (something like the yamaha RX135). With 6 heavy persons , in 2nd low it will climb 50 degree inclines easily .

The NVH is very very low and lesser than the Hurricane at any given speed except idling. I think the type of slushy terrain you EXOs do in Mumbai , the wheels will spin away to glory with 4.88 ratio.
If you can source the 7.00X16 , 6 PLY NDMS , please dont even think twice , you will be amazed by their performance off road , the stance they give to the JEEP , nothing to match them.

I personally got scared to throttle the JEEP with 4.88s. Its just MAD.

Re: JEEPS of the Charminar offroad club

This is a M170 aka the ambulance version of the CJ6.

7.00X16 , 6PLY NDMS tyres
Hurricane engine
3speed tranny
Wooden steering wheel .
PTO winch .

Owner Bharath Reddy

There are some mods done in Hyderabad which i have not seen else where .

Neatly fitting a OM616 engine into a willys Low bonnet with a working 4wd gearbox and running very reliably .

Fitting a turbocharger to the XD3P engine again a very reliable setup and has been tested.

M38A1 front suspension on a CJ6

Modding the OM616 engine for more power by using a diff fuel pump.

All our hurricane engines do 120km/h tested on GPS.
Our XD3Ps (some of them done in Bharath motors) have the lowest NVH.
Same goes with the OM616 and hurricane and GO-Devil engines.

I have seen the maxium number of engine and tranny combinations here like isuzus, toyotas, nissans , kirloskars , perkins etc running well with 4wd GBs and used for years together.

They make hand made bodies of any JEEP , Grills, doors etc can all be fabricated .

We fabricate warn bumpers and roll cages with superior finishing .
8 out of 10 of our extreme off road JEEPs have winches( electric and working PTOs ) high lift jacks , the best of lights and tyres , top notch mechanicals which dont leave us stranded , no leaking hoses, no kaput fanbelts etc ( very rarely something goes wrong to get stranded)

All are welcome to have a demo when you are in Hyderabad.

Lot of other mods which i cannot disclose

Re: JEEPS of the Charminar offroad club

I do hope you have more such amazing pics to post in this thread. I am a huge fan of the Hyd jeeps and the works done by Bharat Motors since the time DKG had posted about the 'Jeeps in Hyderabad' & subsequently by Fazal Saab. The best part is apart from having the best-in-class type of fit, finish & craftsmanship these jeeps also have the reliable fitments of 4wd engine-tranny combo as you have rightly mentioned. Hopefully i could come to Hyderabad some time and see some of these beautiful machines in person. Thanks a lot for the thread.

Re: JEEPS of the Charminar offroad club

Very nice jeeps & very tastefully done. Each one is a testimony to th passion & effort spent by the owner.

I also believe that Hyd has a 'culture & eco-system' where one can get such things done. It's like how silicon valley is "the place" for startups. It has the perfect 'eco-system' to make things happen.

Thanks for starting this thread and sharing the pictures/information about these machines.

Headers first you should give me a guarantee than our Arka saab wont kill you me for doing outrageous mods

Engine , tranny are available in Delhi , engine is 48k and GB is 23k.Keep a total budget of 1L .

You can easily do more than 300km distance . I think you have seen the green 3B in Aavalakonda , it had the G1 with the 4 -speed mitsubishi Tranny. I can even give you 6 cylinder options .

You can send the JEEP here or i can send you the detail pics including the mounts and how to go about. Please try to stop over at Hyderabad while going to AKC /Examm so that you can personally see the performance in some of our JEEPS.

One of my two CJ3x are going in for a engine change .

Re: JEEPS of the Charminar offroad club

Can you post picture of the OME suspension gypsy from side, front and back on flat ground?

Just curious on how much all these 4x4's cost at the end, only if the owners are ok with sharing the price.
