Re: "Heart Over Mind" 2001 MM550 XD - Rebuild

It was a Mistake while installing the snorkel the snorkel pipe was disturbing the air flow from the Snorkel head. I cut the pipe and fitted the snorkel back It works fine without any breathing problem.

Now time for Mechanical Modification.

Problems Found :-
1. Air Bubbles in the Radiator :-
Time to change the Head Gasket.
2. Gearbox Need a Complete Rebuild
:- I need help to Decide.

Gearbox

Option 1 : Completely Rebuild the KMT90+T18.

Option 2 : Get a Gearbox with Brog Warner Manuel TC

If I go for Option 2 what are the things I need to change and which one ?

Gearbox Options ;-
(My Usage is 60% Onroad and 40% Offroad.)
1. KMT90 + BW Manuel TC
2.BA10 + BW Manuel TC

Then I need to change the Differential to the central aligned Diff from armada/bolero/pik-up 2wd/4wd.
In this case is it possible to keep the LSD ?
If I use the BA10 BW do I need any Modifications on the Prop Shaft
etc ?
Can I retain the the 139 PCD ?

Expecting suggestions .

Where is the pipe ending? It should be above the slit right? so that water escapes through the passage provided at the bottom.

Also why there is a added rubber pipe given?

Shreejesh, your Jeep looks killer. Was the Armada dash a direct fit? What mods did you have to undertake to fit the Armada dash on the MM550? Do all the meters work fine?
Although it looks like it does open, is the front windscreen tiltable with this dash. If yes, any mods undertaken to ensure tiltability?
Im askig because im looking at putting an a?c on my 550 and with the Armada dash it will only be to easy as all vents etc are there.

Armada dash is not a direct fit It needs some cut at both sides and rear. All the meters works fine with out any mod. You need to make a hole on the dash frame for the speedometer cable.Windscreen can be opened (No mod). But the main thing is you need to increase the height of the steering road otherwise it will foul with the meter console.

Re: "Heart Over Mind" 2001 MM550 XD - Rebuild

Did a short discussion with Pratheesh, Rajith, Rohan and Arka, I understand spending money to make things complicated is not a good idea . Decided to keep the KMT90+T18 Combo.

We opened the engine Head for changing the Gasket and found, First the Engine need a Rebuild .

Re: "Heart Over Mind" 2001 MM550 XD - Rebuild

Sreejesh, please use IPL pistons only

Dug this out for you.

Piston- 9420001172
Piston ring set- 9420001228,

they have a "special" purpose in XD3P engines. Also, the step is genuine, the Pressure plate looks suspect. Hope this helps.
