Ok, Glad you had a good month of ownership. But if you are serious about selling it soon, expect a lower amount. There is NO way a CJ500 with this engine will go for 2Lacs. At least you should not have posted the 1.25 out here if you want 2 . Be realistic for anything from 1.0 to 1.3~Lacs...

Re: 1988 Mahindra CJ 500D 4WD Diesel Jeep

My friend Rahul and I have a CJ500d Jeep 1988 for weekend fun and OTR in Vellore Tamil Nadu. We love the B275 international engine and the T18 transfer case.
Is it possible to just change the gearbox to a 4/5 speed GB and retain the same engine and transfer case.
Will using M&M's KMT 90/ BA10/ NGT GB be a straight fit?
Will the length of the propeller shafts have to be modified and the hand lever position changed.
Which of these will need a customised adaptor plate?
How much will these used GB's cost in Chennai / B'lore ?
Are used 'Warn Overdrives available in India'? Has anyone used it?

Hi Doc,

With the B275 it is best to keep the 3 Speed gearbox. You can put the 4 speed but with the 35 bhp B275 engine, it is not going to make a difference and not worth the additional cost. It is definitely not worth putting the 5-Speed as the gear ratios are much taller and you will not be able to use the jeep offf-road.
Used KMT90 gear box will be 12 to 16K. Warn overdrives are not avl in India. It has to be imported.
