Alright if they are soft then it would be less headache i guess. Anyways keep us posted once you do the trials on these.

Some idea of how i would like the jeep to be,a rough draft though, will finalize the design as time goes by and fabrications take shape.

That pic with the Wagon R does give idea about the present height of the jeep! Will look scary for other vehicles on road

Little Monster...???? I saw the jeep before SPOA and it was looking monstrous that time itself! I can guess how it may look now in real life!

Re: '86 Mahindra MM440 + 1.8 L Isuzu + 5 speed gearbox

Continuing the build journey, took the rig out for a short test spin to check if the set up needs to be tweaked further and were are calculations were right or wrong, pleased with the ride and setup, though very minor adjustments to be done now, will test ride the jeep again in few days and post some pics with details.Yesterday's test run was done at a dry river bed with some inclines,i am pleased with the twin shock setup and the custom leaf springs, though the rear is too light to suppress properly to cushion out the bumps with ease, the front is perfect, now i don't need to worry about the ditches and articulation anymore but driving at an angle on a slope will be tricky now.

Re: '86 Mahindra MM440 + 1.8 L Isuzu + 5 speed gearbox

Since the last test was conducted, the glitches were catered and creased out,the rig drives much better than previous river bed test run and the rear articulates now more freely, since there was not much weight at the rear, the massive tires at the rear side used to hop more often if throttle is open wide, tweaked the rear suspension and now drives pretty good and stable. Will keep on testing and tweaking it till i am comfortable with the ride and performance.Sorry could not get more clicks as was busy testing the jeep, though manage to get two clicks.

Hi Mandeep,

Did you sort out the issues with the steering geometry. I would be very interested in the solution. Please post pics of undercarriage if this has been solved. Your ride is fab and I enjoyed riding shotgun on your jeep at the OTR. Keep us posted.

cheers

Re: '86 Mahindra MM440 + 1.8 L Isuzu + 5 speed gearbox

Hi vishwas,
no mate, kind of busy with usual grind and currently stationed in punjab, though i'm pretty much convinced to go for a flat top knuckle with hi-steer kit, will machine a pair and check, since desert storm is just around the corner so raj and his team are super busy, let them be free then i'll take out the dimensions and mill the knuckles off and fabricate a hi-steer for my jeep.thanks for the kind words, honestly speaking, the only thing i didnt like in the jeep was the stiffness of the rear springs and the steering geometry, but it climbed everywhere without a fuss as compared to the previous setup,it is now a complete trail vehicle now instead of on/off road.

Re: '86 Mahindra MM440 + 1.8 L Isuzu + 5 speed gearbox

Well,i have not been able to test ride it as the jeep is still with Raj at performance auto for the rear tire rack design i wanted.Since the last test ride, the shafts are rattling less than before and the jeep was behaving better, though the jeep was covered in top gear magazine this month, will collect few clicks soon after the monsoon event being held in delhi soon.hopefully all goes well with the modifications.

Re: '86 Mahindra MM440 + 1.8 L Isuzu + 5 speed gearbox

a brief update,i had been busy with work and some unwanted responsibilities lately so did not had the time to pen down the details,in the mean while,Raj at performance motors changed the steering linkages with a better design(which is getting a new billet machined component for a step up) for a precise feed back of what the tired do on the trail. Please bare with me of not detailing it much and not clicking enough.

Re: '86 Mahindra MM440 + 1.8 L Isuzu + 5 speed gearbox

renegade bhaaji, you have a really awesome machine. i keep looking at this thread again and again, and every time i find something new in your jeep. i love the minimalist look of your jeep. just the essentials and nothing else.

i have one suggestion. if you are going for the project according to your CAD drawing, try inserting roll cage rod as well.

i think this will make it look better and provides better protection as well.
just my two cents.

ps: pardon the drawing.

Thanks for liking the jeep.well if you have checked the latest clicks of the jeep, the design has been changed, the drawings were just a mere rendering of the concept, plus, the roll cage designs or any components we design are thoroughly checked in various categories, like pay load, stress distribution, rigidness, and we set a final design accordingly,we do some analysis on softwares with the final design first and then go for the fabrication part. Thanks once again for liking the jeep, many more upgrades are in the order for the jeep.

regards
