What are the engine specs?
Thanks Mpower. It had a Toyota 2L-T Engine earlier but after the head blew off due to overheating the previous owner swapped a 2.4L Qualis Engine which was a direct fit with the gear box.

I have found a Toyota Mark II 2L-T Engine and am negotiating the deal, but am still not sure if I should restore it back to the 2L-T or run it on the existing Qualis Engine.

Re: Toyota Hilux Surf LN130 (1997)

2LT anyday. The 2L engine will be really underpowered. You could even fit a 3LT engine.
Watch out for the oil filter housing on the engines from the sedan, since they are different from the ones on a 4X4.

Re: Toyota Hilux Surf LN130 (1997)

Spent about 5 hours at Nagdevi and Opera house but Managed to get only the Carrier Bearing (TIMKEN JLM104948 cone/LM104912 cup)

Couldnt Get the following bearings

OUTER PINION
NSK R30-13 or KOYO TR0607J-1

INNER PINION
KOYO TR070904-1-N

The funny part was that the last few shops that I visited at Opera House had already got the info from Nagdevi dealers.

Now will have to do some more research on alternate bearings.

Re: Toyota Hilux Surf LN130 (1997)

Thats a neat looking machine you got there.I would suggest if you could find a 1KZ-T it would be far better than the 2lt,we have already blown couple of heads of the 2lt and 2lte engines, there is a design flaw with the head design if i am not mistaken, though me and my friend have sorted out the heating issues with an intercooler and pyro to keep a track on the exact temperature as the original meter does not show the exact temp,do consider the 1KZ-T and you will surely be happy as compared to 2lt.

Are you looking for something like

Quote:
OUTER PINION

Thanks for your advice buddy, will keep in touch for the Engine Mod. I believe 1KZ-T is a bit difficult to source.

Re: Toyota Hilux Surf LN130 (1997)

I am still struggling to source the bearings.

I am thinking on an option to swap the rear diffrential with a Toyota Innova one would disassemble the diffrential and take it to CST Road Kurla tomorrow to check if it matches.

Cloud Chaser,

love your 4runner, I have always been a fan of 4runners, especially the rear window.

Would love to see her in person, I have recently restored a range rover classic to her full glory (getting delivery tomorrow) and I can only begin to tell you how exciting it is. Goodluck and take tons of pics a every step.

Hi
I owned a hilux until recently and did up the engine completely from scratch.
Got all the parts (original ) from Australia and Singapore. I sold the build about 5 months back and I still have a lot of new spares, I think I have the whole set of bearings with me, pm me & I'll let you have them.
Have you been through the aussie site for surf's? Its fun building the surf, and driving it too!
Pm me mate, I'll give you all the information you want on your rig and I presume you have a 2lte efi diesel?
