Have decided to wait it out for the next generation Gurkha with the OM611 engine. I had spoken to a senior exec who confirmed the car was under trials and while not by Sept/Oct, early next year it will get launched.

The sad part is we have started offroading almost every weekend and I have to remain a passenger till I get the Gurkha. Toying with the idea of picking up a used Gypsy or a Jeep until then. Also contemplating creating a mechanical "traction control" for my 207 to allow limited offroading

Managed to meet up with the owner of the new Gurkha in town and will have him join us on our Sunday trips.

Today, I saw a black Gurkha on display at the Chennai dealer, Trans Force. We all know it is supplied against customer orders only : I am wondering who the customer can be...anyone from here on Team BHP ???

Surprise !!!

just now checked with the sales manager, and he says it is an open order (not for a specific customer). He is right now going in the same vehicle to demo it to 4 prospective customers : whoever gives the booking amount first gets the Gurkha. (price approx 8.2 lakhs )

The Gurkha is in Alwarpet now.

Anybody interested ?

.

Your wishes are going to be answered this year itself.cheers:

Have heard though that 611 being CRDI and lots of electric and electronic components you wont be able to ford through water like 616 or TD does!

Wonderful!! By when do you think I can order it? Am excited!!

As for the river fording, if I recall reading this correctly, most offroader manufacturers don't recommend going into river water more than 20 inches deep. At that height the electronics shouldn't be a problem. I could be wrong. However, as I never underestimate the force of water chances are I will never dare take it into anything deeper than 20 inches

What I know of it should be around 138 ps 315 NM, this was told to me by the force R&D manager in Auto Show. Though if you check Merc. Specs it is around 143 PS and 315 NM.

Unfortunately he has left force motors... a very helping and nice guy.

Also forgot to add... It was mentioned that This new Gurkha was capable of doing 160+ KMPH but would be electronically restrained to 140-145 KMPH, guess a good decision considering the aerodynamics of the vehicle!!!

take a deep breadth and close your eyes and jump headlong and buy a gurkha from force motors. you will relish the experience. i am not a salesman for force motors mate, because the technology is Mercedes Benz and the name is Force Motors.

I think you meant to say that the new engine is capable of taking the Gurkha to 160 KMPH but I sincerely doubt the rest of the Gurkha will in anyway be capable at 160 Kmph. With the OEM tires, I'd wary to push the Gurkha beyone 120 Kmph.
