I've been trying to find someone to supply me with shocks in Delhi, and thus far without success. Do you have any contacts you can suggest? As the shocks will have to be shipped to Manali, it doesn't matter where in the country, as long as they can send by courier.

Regarding the parts, why not try sourcing via web? I'm neither an expert in that department nor have sourced anything myself, but have seen many do so for their Skodas, VWs and the likes. (Of course, they are not in the same league as the Mog)!
Further, how good are the tyres? Have you changed it after your buy? Shelving it for 5 years is as good as using it for several thousand kilometres.

What I could suggest is to measure the existing shocks - if possible after removing them to understand the
total compressed length as well as total expanded length.
You could try the Bolero / Tempo travellor shocks to see if they match the travel lengths both ways.
Unless the shock absorbers are of the newer gas filled type, oil filled types are repairable easily. In Delhi, repair/refurbishing shock absorbers is a big time industry, and they do it for all types.

HOw, wherem how do you get your hands on this vehicle? I would sell my house to get this, because lets be honest - you don't really need one if you have THIS!!! Awesome photos, amazing vehicle and congratulations. Please could i come and have a look, whenever, wherever you are. This post has truly rocked my world. I am in delhi BTW

And today I get to read about a 'desi' Unimog on our very own TeamBHP. Wow!!!
Congrats Siddharta on owning what must be one of the most capable off road vehicles ever built. Do keep us updated on your life with this mean machine.
I had seen a unimog concept in one of the auto shows and it immediately caught my attention and fancy. It is quite a surprise to see a fine example of the mog doing its rounds in our country. Congratulations on being the owner of one of the best off-roaders in the world(only what I have read, not experienced).

I remember seeing a Unimog truck calmly stuck in rush hour A-road traffic somewhere in Surrey, UK. That was many years ago, but I still can't get the image of those huge muddy tyres rolling slowly past my driver's side window.
I'm sure that every auto enthusiast who'd seen it that day would still remember it just as vividly. A fantastic go-anywhere machine if there ever was one.

First of all congrats on this amazing acquisition. As someone rightly mentioned - if the shockers are oil filled (as considering the manufacturing date- they ought to be) - they can be easily repaired anywhere. The interiors are awesome and I am happy that the beast has found someone who will lovingly take care of it for years to come.
Here's wishing you a lot of miles and I do wish our paths cross sometime for me to experience the beast in flesh !

Siddhartha_YT, Congrats on your new ride. Awesome machine, that is what I can describe your Mog. I have seen these machines when I was in Germay and was mighty impressed with their capabilities. Most of these are used for specialised operations and a very few were of civilian use.
Sorry to hear the failure of the shocks, if the failure is attributed to seals, the there are a lot of seal manufacturing companies these days which can manufacture a seal in required quantities, even 1 pc. I know a company in Pune, Sealjet and one in Bnagalore, Sealwell who specialise in these application. If you find the seal in your shocks worn/ torn, then you can contact these people and get it done. Will check with my colleagues if any one is available in Delhi for your needs.
OMG! A Unimog :thumbs up!!! :Shockked: You're one lucky man!! And the pictures are awesome! To test the capabilities of the mog on the Indus. I envy you. How'd you get out when you get bogged? Was the Mog able to get itself out or did the Mog have to be tugged out?
Lovely Mog !! This is straight out of a boyhood dreamscape. Bitten by the wanderlust, travelling in the harsh inhospitable and stark places with a lovely lovely machine !! Beautiful pics too.
I, myself don't fancy the electronic features and gizmos of the modern cars/SUVs. But the Unimog looks so mechanical and the interiors are just a home away from a home.

Hey Siddhartha, awesome acquisition. Something that many of us here on the forum just dream about. This is certainly a mechanical wonder, having driven a newer generation one a couple of years ago, on a non existent track I have experienced first hand the capabilities of this machine. This and the KRAZ are my dream 4x4 vehicles.
LIke many have pointed out you could get the shockers repaired if they are the oil filled types. You could also look at the 407/Tempo Traveller shocks as these are derivates of the Uni.
On a side (should I say more important) note - Please tie 'nimbu-mirchi', small black doll, nazar suraksha kavach, Black thread, et all! to this machine to save it from 'our' evil eyes :)
