Dear Frankenstein - Yes for on-road handling due to 2.5 times better torsional rigidity. Yes for tough suspension. Yes for "C" section chassis breaking also, especially in army application. Yes for old suspension breaking also.

If we had not done NGCS, Bolero would not be where it is today! .

Sandeep Sir,

This time I believe in theory more than Practical/Experience
I need to test the Onroad/offroad handling of the NGCS (I am not driven one yet) But I am sure there will be a technical solution if anything wrong with the handling which I needed.
I believe it can take heavier engine without vibration
Any chassis/suspension can break if we want to,

Some WIP pics Tinkering Continues.

Re: MM550 XD NGCS - The War Horse

I am going for a simple flat dash/meter console this time like CJ7 . Pratheesh,Sudarsan Bhai,DB sir, this and Innova seats are the only modification I am doing in interior .

BD Sir, could you throw some more light into this matter (Comparing a NGCS with the older C section chassis) in your typical "Totality Style" so that lesser mortals like me understand?

The dials would look awesome if mounted on an SS plate like in the second picture. Or a brushed aluminium finish would also look super classy
My 2 cents.

Re: MM550 XD NGCS - The War Horse

Congratulations Sir,
On your acquiring The War Horse, I was in the race for getting this beast, but lost to you. I am glad you got it. It was waiting for you to pick it up, I was told.
I am waiting to see the warrior in fully restored condition. Will meet in Coimbatore during registration.
Jerrycan has promised me another NGCS during January. Cant wait to get my hands on one.

Re: MM550 XD NGCS - The War Horse

Jess sir,

I was following this NGCS for more than 3-4 months. Getting a good MM550 / MM550 NGCS is very difficult and you should be lucky enough to get a good one. All the best, I bought this and my previous jeep from Jerrycan.

Tinkering is over now need to fix the Jeep decal & make the dash.

Mechanical work started with Wheels.

Hi sreejesh,
Nice jeep you have got.BTW,which colour have you planned to go for?I suggest you something like the CJ3B "dog" has.It wouldbe very nice on your MM550.Also have you planned to go for alloys? Why not get the steel wheels with Maxxis Bighorn or any other tyre? Also get the rear bumper with spare tyre mount from Swastik Fabs at the given link.

Sreejesh,

IMO, the earlier picture of mounting them over a SS plate would look timeless! You could cover the rest of the dash in a plain Vinyl so that they feel better to touch than sheet metal!
My 2 cents again!

Dear DB Sir,
I am still waiting for response to my question asked few days back. Why don’t you share the difference between old gen 550 and NGCS rather than beating around bush?
I hope its neither a trade secret nor copyright of M&M.

Sir is the chassis and suspension breaking limited to the 550 or even the CJ3b?

Bolero, bought one green color vehicle when it came out. I think peugo engined one.
Have fond memories .Peppy engine, powerful a/c.
Somewhere near kolar, broken road, a friend sitting at the back puked 20 times in a span of 100kms ,Finally he puked blood, driver too got scared ,
The ride is horrible.

Had a short stint with a NGCS 550.

Rock climbing. CJ5S CJ3B/3A nonngcs 550s went up easily.
NGCS wont go , too stiff, 3 drivers tried , finaly took it gypsy style , pedal to the metal in 2nd low .
Thar here broke the front shaft with the rear leafs twisted .
Ngcs feels like a truck to drive .
Cj3b will run rings around this lorry .

Can you post the video or any pics of the particular ROCK CLIMBING ? CJ5 & CJ3B may be because they are SWB jeeps but 550 & NGCS I still don't understand what type of articulation you are getting from a 550 ?

Do you think 550 with out LSD can do the same ?

Re: MM550 XD NGCS - The War Horse

sree like Frankie said I too feel the ngcs doesn't flex both in leaf and chassis dept compared to old school Jeeps, this may be a issue in articulation and offroading, I tried simple things in my Ngcs AG and its on a blue pill always - Stiff!!!

Re: MM550 XD NGCS - The War Horse

Congrats Sreejesh on a rare find and well progressing restoration. Looks like there is no need for a ground up restoration.
DB Sir, request you, like others, to please throw some light on the differences between NGCS/ old 550s,both on and off-road.
@ Santosh: We can have now a "Jeep on Blue pill" just like the gypsy on steeroids!!
