Hi ArunV,

Congrats for the Jeep.

To the best of my knowledge , those are holders/brackets to hold/ stow spades and pickaxes.

Regards.

Re: A dream come true - '02 Mahindra MM550 in Bangalore

Finally had a short session of Offroading at Hosur under Santosh's expert guidance. This was the first time I was driving a vehicle in 4WD mode

A photo from there. Rest are with Santosh

Saw that the steering link is loose and making a sound while tuning. The body beds are also loose.Planning to change all the body beds.

The jeep is left with the electrician and mechanical guy. Hope the electrical work is done by now

Hi Arun,

First of all Congrats MM550 XD is the best beast. Please remove that snorkel pipe which looks bad & I think the diameter of pipe is also not proper, I used the same diameter of the original air intake pipe.

Posting the picture just for your reference.

Thank you so much Sreejesh. Yesterday I was discussing with Santosh about the snorkel you had.

I doubt here. The bend at the windshield is not exactly 90 degree rt? How did you achieve this.

As of now, the vehicle is in workshop, getting the basic electrical and mechanical jobs done. Will work on the snorkel next saturday.

Re: A dream come true - '02 Mahindra MM550 in Bangalore

The jeep came without a jack and I was running it without one till now.
I dont want to take risk now and need a jack once the jeep is back from repair.Looking for the floor jack.

Where can I get one in Bangalore? And whats the expected cost?

Hi, You can get this on JC road either from Car automobiles or the small shop next to it. You can get stuff for your toolkit also from there. Prices are reasonable and you get good quality stuff. There are one too many shops adjacent to these shops to check for some good deals. Please go for a heavy duty one to ensure safety/adequate use.

Cheers

Re: A dream come true - '02 Mahindra MM550 in Bangalore

The jeep was out for servicing this week and took it back this week.

I had done a flush and engine oil change, and now the engine is making a lot of noise. It is like something is rattling inside. The engine pressure is around 3.

What can be this sound? I am seriously worried now :(

Edit: the sound is there even when the jeep is idling. so its not from any other part.

Re: A dream come true - '02 Mahindra MM550 in Bangalore

Checked it out today in the morning and saw that the sound is not coming from the engine, but its coming from the water pump and pulley behind the radiator.

Got it checked by the Neighbourhood mechanic and he has confirmed that the thread in the pump seems to be gone and both the pump and pulley might have to be replaced. He will come tomorrow to replace it.

Any place where i can buy Mahindra OE parts near Domlur?

Re: A dream come true - '02 Mahindra MM550 in Bangalore

Got a lot of things done in the last few weeks. I had given the vehicle for a complete check, oil change and some other electrical work as well. Got everything done and on the way back i started hearing a noice. I was confused what the sound was, and being in the night i was not able to identify where the sound came from. First i thought it was from the engine and next day morning, realized that it is from the water pump pulley. Got it checked from the neighbourhood mechanic and he suggested changing the water pump & pulley.

This is the new water pump
A dream come true - '02 Mahindra MM550 in Bangalore-imag0204.jpg

See the condition of the old pulley. The part of the pulley which was connected to the shaft was also broken.
A dream come true - '02 Mahindra MM550 in Bangalore-imag0205.jpg

The pulley was wobbling and a part of the pump is scrapped off.

Fitted all the parts back, poured the collant and then there is a leak in the water pump.
The part where the raditor hose is connected had a small hole and coolant is leaking from there. Removed the part again, fixed the hole with araldite and fixed it back.

Now everything seems to be fixed and the temperature remains well below 80 all the time. Did a test run of 20 kms and the temperture reached close to 80 only towards the last of the journey which was not the case before.

Got a pair of D hooks and Skid plate from Santosh. Need to fit it. The cross member in which the skid plate is to be fixed has taken a hit in the previous otr. Need to fix it soon

Re: A dream come true - '02 Mahindra MM550 in Bangalore

dont bother about the gb cross member, its edges can be hammered flat for the plate to fix, else the whole thing is only 500rs in scrap market.

There are 2 small shops in JC road selling all kinds of tools and Jacks - Raja Tools and Quality Tools. The attitude of both these guys are not to talk about.
You can ask any automobile shops in JC road and they will guide you to these shops.

Re: A dream come true - '02 Mahindra MM550 in Bangalore

Got it Sriny, infact had to buy. I burst my tire when the side wall hit the corner of a iron step at Hosur. Now I am running without a stepny.

Had to pay Rs 850/- for a 3 ton hydraulic bottle jack. I think it would have been cheaper in JC Road.

Hello Arun, there are no spare part shops which sell mahindra jeep stuff near by Domlur. I hear from the local spare part dealers that you will get jeep parts near by Lakshmipuram (CMH Road, Indira nagar). But I have never tried it. Best it to visit JC road. Since there are many shops around the probability of getting parts you need there is more.

Babu, based on your budget and condition, getting a 550 now is not so difficult. There are sellers in thrissur(Babal), another guy in kottarakara etc.. else Coimbatore is always nearby...

In fact, I am planning to sell mine as I am not in India now. KA reg though.

The CMH road guy has tons of attitude. I never go there. I go to JC road or there is Diamond automobiles in Marthahalli. I always ask them to get it for me if I am not in a hurry.
