Re: Wishlist: Single / Double Cab 4x4

Going through this thread and by DB sir's last tease about the Thar while it was being concieved, My logic says this thing has to be a rebirth of something old . Just like the MM540/550 was resurrected as the Thar, I would like to think this one to be the Sierra, with solid axles and coil over suspension and the safari engine and diff-locks. oohh la la that would be one sweet ride. Oh and with the option of 2 doors or 4 doors (hence the thread title single\double cab)

Re: Wishlist: Single / Double Cab 4x4

10L.
Double Cab
Normal angled second row seat back.
Xenon look good.
17" rims
255-235 width tyres. Xenon ones are too small.
Speedo should be visible through rake and reach adjustable steering.
Night adjustable driver seat.
Double Din integrated Bluetooth, CD, USB, head unit with steering mounted controls.
No delicate components that can be damaged right in front bottom.
Roof rails
Dual airbags.
Pseudo leather interior that is easy to clean.
Air intake snorkel
Rear bed hard cover and full box type cover accessories.
Provision for front guard with winch and extra lights.
Roll cage accessory to be available.
4x4 knob like on Storme.
ACC, cruise control, auto lights and auto rain sensing wipers on top variant. Only three variants. To two with 4x4

Do not see this as That alternative so does NOT have to be short wheel base. This has to be a combination of lifestyle vehicle and materials mover. Xenon is too crude on the inside for lifestyle but fine for materials.

This will not be used for rock climbing nor on narrow trails but on muddy and sandy roads.

In which case a lot of the offroader, seating comfort and ICE wishlist - double DIN bluetooth stereo etc - is getting parked?

Honestly, this is one of those cases where a vehicle like this, priced reasonably, can attract sufficient aftermarket customization of accessories, seating etc, as long as the basics are in place (power steering, shocks etc that don't feel as tractor motor like as you get in most indian commercial vehicles)

ok then a 10L variant as suggested by you and a 11L one as suggested by me. The electronic stuff suggested by me should not add more than 1L OTR.

I would still prefer a vehicle which is controlled mechanically and has less electronic controls.

Hard Top. YES
Snorkel. YES
AC. YES
PS. YES
120-140 BHP. YES
350+ NM Torque. YES
At least Central diff Locks. YES
Manual shift for 4WD. YES

The additional features which can be retrofitted, then why should they be there in the first place to increase its OTR price and the insurance?

Very true. Tata would have a first mover's advantage if they manage to create such a niche segment and price the product right.

Re: Wishlist: Single / Double Cab 4x4

Read in the Tata Kite thread that a fellow tbhpian has a news that a new compact SUV on the X2 platform with Sierra inspired styling is going to be launched in the next 3 months.

Though difficult to believe without seeing any scoop pics, this thread is the only concrete proof that such a vehicle exists or is being developed.

Please DB sir, any news

Re: Wishlist: Single / Double Cab 4x4

I own 2009 Xenon XT, which has done around 42K kms in 2 years 10 months. (its a pre owned one from Uninor's fleet)

I am really satisfied with the ownership of the vehicle. (only had one suspension issue which was sorted in PUNE thanks to BD sir & a BorgWarner guy : ) )

I even tried to fit 32" Mts but they dont fit without some body mods, so canceled that plan.

Wishlist: Single / Double Cab 4x4-dsc08044-2-medium.jpg
here is my wishlist.
  • short wheelbase
  • better tuned 2.2vtt
  • manual TC with less drop angle
  • rear MLD
  • better leg room in rear
  • better drive train components (its rumored that front axle shafts are weaker than its MM counterpart)
Actually there is nothing to wish, everything is already there.

a tata support car from BCIM Car Rally 2013 with shorter wheelbase, manual TC, tuned engine with bigger turbo.

aka MH01AX8510.

Great to know about your experience.
Among your points in the wishlist, just a better leg room in the rear would be good enough to consider this as a family tourer vehicle. Presently it is too less and seats are too upright. A manual TC would be a dream addition, taking the reliability to the top notch level.

So something like this already exists!! Wishful thinking, but do you have any interior picture of this vehicle? Are you sure on the manual TC part? Do you have any info on how this was implemented?

EDIT:
I really like this one. The trailer should be smooth and not grooves like in a Mini lorry.

I would take anything which looks like a ford f150. That truck is

Also folks while suggesting price do suggest your upper limit and not the lower. In the thar thread people suggested 6lacs and the vehicle ended up being priced in the 8 lac region .

DB sir dont hit me for this.
