Restored CJ3 B

Hi guys,
My cousin and me decided to restore this Jeep a couple of years back. We' have always been interested in modifying and restoring cars as a project and when he picked up this rickety old Jeep "This could be a fun project

". Originally this Jeep has been bought from an Army auction.

No major modifications were done. But original accesories as they came from the Army were found and put on to this jeep. The engine was taken apart and restored. Carb was swapped from carter to solex!

Its got an original 2.2 liter hurricane engine with T-90 gearbox and T-18 transfer case.

We wanted to keep this Jeep as original as possible. Accesories were picked up from junk yards and other destoryed jeeps......Still looking for an original three spoke wooden steering wheel. Right now it has a normal army spec steering. Other intersting things are a original sniper light on the fender, 1972 Jerry can, Seats- original only had to be re-foamed.

Colour specially mixed by us basically a type of swiss army grey-green and lastly a canvas top was made for those rainy days!

awesome job bro....looks new...glad to see that you kept it original instead of modifying it....however doesnt this belong in the classics section...i know its not a supercar but still...btw whts tht written on the side..nd also wht accessories do u have on it?

Very very well executed. It would be great to see the pictures of this car before it went through a revamp.

Awesome job and that's inspiring me. Could you let us know the project cost. Do share us your best and worst time youv'e been thru while restoring this master piece.

What is this sniper light on the fender?
I know only of an armored black-out light, that was on the left fender of the 1939 Willys MB.

Well unfortunately forgot to take pics as this took quite some time (not because of the work involved but more for the lack of time factor)

However we are doing up a new modern Jeep from ground up (But thats another story!! will post when its done in a different thread)

Well the sniper light is basically a black out light. When army convoys go out they used these for a limited range so that the enemy can't spot you easily at night. The shield on top of the light allows the beam of light to fall only upto a few feet of the fender.

Well the cost of the total Jeep including the basic cost of the Jeep +tyres + battery+ wiring including paint etc came to around 1.15...........

Really a great work, looks original.. how was the job done, completely by you and your cousin or in a work shop with a mechanic.

And one more thing.. is it legal to have the army color on the jeep?

Not a wooden steering wheel, but a classic CJ3B wheel going cheap : Linky. Also, you can check up on a LOT of tips, tricks and suggestions on the Mega CJ3B website.

No most of the things were done by us. Certain things obviously a mechanic was used. Infact different mechanics were used to get different jobs done. But how it was to be done and the parts to be used were done by us in my factory.
Well a break up is pretty difficult as customisation has lots of hidden costs but i will try and post them here for everyone ! Plus since it was done in house and for ourselves i just have an idea of the total we spent and some other costs...

Thanks gto. Ya but getting them shipped from abroad is always cumbersome. Actually we are concentrating on 2 more new Jeeps. One is already finished and the other one with modern concepts but more of a bling bling Jeep with a high-end engine and customised metallic paint job is on the way. That will be a long thread will all sorts of before and after pictures.

Hi Mandeep,
Post 1979 Mahindra introduced the JEEPs as Mahindra JEEP.
They Changed the Steering Wheel to the present 2 Spoke on all models.

PS - 2 spoke & 3spoke are not interchangeable require to change the milling
