Remind my, I thought from 1950 onwards Jeeps were designated as M38 and from 1953 as M38A1. The M38 was based on the 1949 standard Jeep I believe, and they changed that for the M38A1.

Irrespective, I always love these Jeeps. They have armed their place in automotive industry and the army alike.

Did you do this restoration yourself, would love to see some more details on the restoration.

That looks great now.

What are the norms in your country?

Well here the rules are bit relaxed for now , but you never know when they tighten the rules and then we have to change the Color

Re: Willys M38 Project

The level of engineering that went into these early Jeeps just makes me smile. The original undersquare high torque engine, the utter simplicity, the ease of maintenance, the rugged reliability and the utility is pure genius.

There are a number of little features that are so clever. For example, the WWII original had headlights that also shown inside the bonnet so a soldier could see and work on the engine at night if he needed to...then too, its simplicity meant that it was easy to reproduce in great numbers on production assembly lines. General Eisenhower said that the Jeep was one of the genius machines that helped the Allies win WWII. That's no small praise from a man who was a logistics savant.

What engine do you have in your Jeep?

Re: Willys M38 Project

Yes I totally agree. These jeeps are very simple and very reliable and along with it very easy to maintain.
I simply love to restore these era jeeps to its originality , my jeep has a go devil motor.
