4. Rock sliders
5. More powerful halogen headlamps
6. Dashcam
7. Tyre upsize and switch to AT tread.
8. Fender flares
9. Rain Visors
10. Head rest mounted Hat / coat Rack
11. Bolt on Turbo Kit (maybe)
12. Functional snorkel (maybe)
13. Pair of good Hella Halogen Foglamps
14. Seat back hard plastic covers/ Protectors for the rear seats so as to be rough-useable when folded flat.
I would agree with most except

10. Head rest mounted Hat / coat Rack - have almost no use for it
11. Bolt on Turbo Kit (maybe) - I don't have the courage to add a TC to a non TC engine. There are multiple horror stories for adding a TC to the 1HZ

On the other hand would absolutely go with #14. I'm surprised that not many have missed it. It is there on the 3-door Jimny. I cannot use the Jimny for me dogs without a hard seat back.

Re: Maruti-Suzuki Jimny | Modifications Wishlist Thread

My top 1st upgrade will obviously be the tyres. The rest of the accessories as and when they appear in the market. So far I've seen these recommended by youtubers and available in the market:
1. BFgoodrich
2. Continental
3. Yokohamas
4. Apollo Apterra
5. Ultramile

I think I'll go for 225 if available as a guy on youtube mentioned they are ideal or max 235 as I won't need to do any lift kit installs. Can't wait for the launch.

Re: Maruti-Suzuki Jimny | Modifications Wishlist Thread

I'm looking at below upgrades.

1. ARB or Ironman or Dobinsons 2" lift kits. Honestly I'm confused on which one to buy, can't find a comprehensive comparison between these three. Ironman cost around 110K in Dubai for the whole kit with caster bushes, extended brake lines. Yet to get the pricing details on other two.

2. 235/70/15 tyres (or even wider) + 7J Steel rims, mostly will go with Yokohama Geolander (approximately 70k based on availability). Another option is to go for 16" if steel rims are available so as BF KO2.

3. HKS exhaust kit (Costs around 80K)

4. Remap, hope there will be one available

5. Intake

6. Armrest

7. Seat upholstery at binuscar.com with better thigh and side support

t

I would hesitate to go for a tyre upsize larger than 215/75/15.
I would also hesitate to change the wheel diameter.

Reason is it will put some extra strain on the suspension and steering components, alter the handling and the steering geometry and this vehicle being blessed with a small 1.5 litre naturally aspirated engine, might cry a bit with this extra load and heavier rolling resistance and all.
I believe it will detract from its performance rather than enhance it.
Effectively it will end up all ‘Show’ and no ‘Go’.
Just my thoughts. Not intended to offend.

Completely agree with this. My idea of an SUV build is to have a chunky tyre with a lift kit, so basically a "Show" build. When you want Jeep Wrangler but can't afford it My usage pattern doesn't include cursing so hope I won't regret. Anyway I know it's going to affect performance, fuel economy and definitely the steering and it's parts since I have that experience with my Polo running on 215's.

I also want a Jeep Wrangler very badly. But I don't think it is worth the price in India brand new.
Only an used one is worth it. And even that (for me) is a stretch price-wise.

And because of my near insane love for all Jeepy things, Ive attempted to mod my Thar mildly into a Jeep WRONGLER Willys as can be seen.

I freely admit that I am a copycat.

Sorry for shoving these pics on this thread. Just couldn't help it - you gave me the perfect opening!

Exactly the same situation here. Been waiting for Jimny and Thar 5 door since budget wise they are the only options. But with current inflated car prices it doesn't feel worth waiting for the Thar 5 door, I feel it may touch the 30 mark on the road for the top variant.

Thar with custom bumpers and grill is an exact copy of Wrangler from the front. Maybe your build just needs the Wrangler type bumpers.

Anyway, I believe Jimny will give the flexibility of a long list of upgrade options aesthetically and for performance. GReddy bolt on Turbo kit will be the most mouthwatering of all

I have seen many people putting 235/75/15 abroad along with stock suspension. I'm guessing this is without a lift kit, if that's the case there is more room for bigger tyres on stock suspension on the 5 door Jimny as the tyres appears to be bigger than 235's.

How does the powertrain able to handle such additional weights, i wonder since already people are already criticising the Jimny for being underpowered.

Putting on these seriously over sized tyres on any car, is like a person wearing gumboots on the feet and trying to participate in a running race or relay event.

I guess the powertrain will be able to handle these tyres and even bigger ones, maybe with some minor performance upgrades. I have seen 100's of Jimny's through videos and in person running on chunkier tyres without any issues.

This Jimny's is running on a 235/75/R15 BF KO2, as per the video he is doing 0-100 in 10.5 secs. Obviously he have a few performance upgrades like Forge full exhaust kit and air intake.

These Jimny build's run with 35 inchers, I agree it's build for their specific needs but it seems the car is able to handle it.

People all over the world use Jimny for overlanding with bigger tyres and with equipment they carry for the trip, this powertrain is accepted by them, but unfortunately in India it's not.

If I'm talking about myself, this is purely personal preferences. I like to put bigger tyres within the body line on whichever car I use, it's mainly because I'm not going to hit those numbers to the extreme right on the speedo. Putting chunkier tyres will make them slow but I will be still able to drive them at decent speeds, at least from my personal experience.

Well, here is another build from AM Racing, Delhi. These are 235/70/16's without a lift kit, we are going to see a lot of these in the coming days. Just hoping I can get my hands on one this July.

Less weight more costlier the wheels They are 6J's, but still 6.4KG per wheel is light, can compensate a bit for those chunky tyres.

Re: Maruti-Suzuki Jimny | Modifications Wishlist Thread

For someone who plans to use the Jimny mostly on-road than off-road

Strongly prefers 235 tyres

Don't want to do any upgrades to stock suspension

Does 235/60/R16 AT tyres make sense?

I am considering the Yokohama Geolander 235/60/R16.

Short answer from my book. Bad idea. Like wearing gumboots and trying to run a 200 metre race.
I suggest you go for max 215/75/15. Geolander G015/G016 or Continental or similar SUV AT Tyres. These will do the job for you beautifully and will be a correct upsize and will not hamper the vehicle on highways and they wont affect the Fuel efficiency either.
Of course if you prefer ‘looks’ over the ‘functionality’ and ‘real world practicality’ please go and get yourself the 235’s. But I personally would not.
