These locks look much more simpler, i guess this has to be better than mine because i have to pull the handle and then turn it 90deg to engage it. This looks easier and more safer, does this require any turning?

and how was the coorg gurkha better? did it have a diffrent color plastic knob?

I didn't use the diff lock, so I don't know. The Gurkha at coorg had better finish, I forget the exact details.

A.P.S Grewal sahib,

Don't know if you have searched the forum or not. Lots of threads exist which wil answer your query. Please use the advanced search feature with 'Gurkha' as the search term in titles only.

I think by reading these posts you will get an idea for an alternate vehicle also.

Do share with us what you eventually decide to buy, and then eventually buy.

Cheers,

I have decided to go for the Gurkha
It is worth every penny cause if i had to add the same features in a Bolero it would cost me more
6.20 lacs + 1 lac for a 4x4 and about 1 lac for diff locs keeping the underpower Bolero engine, so if i would opt for the same Gurkha engine after selling the Bolero engine it would cost me another 1.20 lacs, I know these modifications cannot be done but if it was possible i would have ended paying more
So i think its a very good offer and i get a 3 year guarantee

There has been some speculation that Force Motors is planing to put a Mercedes CRDI (OM611) engine in the Gurkha/Trax Range. You may want to wait for that.

Bolero is also being launched with the Scorpio 2.6 CRDe engine. If you order that one with 4x4 and soup it up a bit, it maybe a decent choice as well.

Notics the Diff lock change and the color of the seats.

Also the body panel graphics and Gurkha pasted at front and rear on side!

rhandle, please start a separate thread for your pics and ownership report.
As mentioned above by Ketan, please upload the pics in TBhp itself, rather than uploading elsewhere and giving the links here.

I don't know if separate thread would be allowed. I have just driven it for 400kms after delivery. I have my exams this weekend and then by next weekend I would take it to off-road.

I drove my safari after covering 300Kms on Gurkha and it felt like the best car available. The Safari seemed so quiet, comfortable and gr8! compared to Gurkha. Basic things are missing in it and the factory job many places is bad bad work.

If mods allow I would post the pics where it needs modifications as per me, to make it at least usable on day to day basis.

The vehicle came with around 65PSi in tires, and the ride was very bumpy. Thanks to Dr. Roy AKA Gurkha he asked me to chk the tires and reduce them to 32. Which improved the ride very much. Also the bolt in hinge of passenger door was half out, which was then later on pressed back. Too many small issues.

The car is also not cheap, considering the number of modification you would need to do after getting it.

Of course the looks it generate from the people has been mind boggling once you are on street!

I have done approx 3K on Gurkha but still having some nagging issues, which I am getting resolved. As soon as that is done would write a report comparing it with Safari.

The Gurkha I tested in the first post has been in Bangalore since a year. I hear it is being used extensively, has anyone seen it in action?
