Awesome thread DKG, just gave this thread a 5-star rating.

DKG, do you have the address of the garage in Hyderabad who modifies the MM540 to look like a Jeep Wrangler? Also, I would be interested in the price to get one done.

As for the low-bonnets, Hyderabad has plenty in great shape.

The gentlemen behind these fabulous Jeeps are Venkat and Narayan Reddy (brothers)

They jointly run their garage Bharat Motor. Contact number is 040 24732692

Recently I had a long chat with them and what they feel is that unless an owner wants to go the whole hog its usually very difficult to achieve the end result displayed here if you cut corners.

The majority of these owners have spent anywhere from 5.5 to 6.5 lacs doing up these cars. They order a lot of stuff from the US

Hope the info helps

. Servicing these at M&M dealers is also not a problem, as they have most of the parts available with them easily.

This jeep also gets its' problems fixed at the dealers.

Nice pics, thanks for sharing. I hadn't seen this thread before and when I saw the title I wondered if any of my relatives jeeps were there, or if any of them attended this event. When scrolling through, I spotted my first cousin, his dad(my uncle) and one of my moms first cousins. All of whom have had some very nice jeeps, and some others still do.

BF Goodrich brand is owned by Michelin. Check with your local Michelin dealer. I only know of a dealer in Gurgaon...

Nothing much is scavanged out of any vehicle. I mean any major part or assembly. Minor parts might or might not be missing before the auction.

Although, I am not an authority to quote on it, but the thing is that there is a strong nexus of the contractors who bid for a sizeable amount of the vehicles to be auctioned. They repair them and sell them in the market.

There has been a mention of such dealers in the forum. I feel that buying the vehicle from them would be of a less hassle than directly dealing with the Army.
Susan thats an amazing pic of the Army MM550. Nice location and composition. I have been trying to find the best way to get myself on the auction and I dont have a solid lead yet.

any even if they are auctioned, they are done in lots. which people like me and you cannot buy. Normally contractor bids for them, and you can negotiate later personally.

in north, Most of them are sold to Workshops in Mayapuri, delhi, don't know about down-south. A fully restored you can avail upward of 75k.
I think there was even an article about them in an auto mag, last year.

In gujarat also there is a place called Kanodhar, each and every shop is owned by expert muslim dudes! most of them are saudi/gulf return. even mahindra and tata representative have visited the place. As they have mastered in making copies of die-casts. they make 40 % cheaper 1612 truck/mahindra front ends.
Anybody? Any idea if there are such dealers down south??

I have heard lots of these going for about 60-70k and not in bad condition at all. Very Drivable.
